Toanche Dwelling - Hovering Ancestor
Just a fucking great tape. Absolutely stellar, cloudy noise. Highly endorsed.

Re: Favorite noise artwork.
Excellent lists all. Has caused some idiosyncratic reflection. Please forgive. I've always found noise music interesting (one could incorporate similar fringe/diy scenes here as well but it is strongest in noise/experimental circles I think) where the content is so radically subjective and open to (...

Great piece on MOB 47 et al. (their 1980's studio, specifically) just went up on Negative Insight--a truly fantastic web/zine.

Ramleh-Homeless at least once a day all this week. This morning is no exception. Love the whole thing, but the two closing tracks (Kansas City Bomber and Utopia Dust) are just fucking perfect.

The video that got me into Godflesh. Still their best stuff imo (delay on the vocals really ramp up the bad vibes.)
My good friend and I actually bootleged this on Cassette about ten years ago when we were living together in Alberta.

Excellent list/topic. No time for anything but a shortlist from me at the moment. Definitely the group which got me interested in Harsh Noise-proper and inspired me to begin producing my own work. The Mom Savage sound of the 1990's is revered for good reason, and satisfies like little else. Bad vibr...

Listening to some bootleg version of 'European Son' by the Velvets with a kettle on the boil close by. Creaking of the kettle meshed extremely well with the closing freakout guitars for a minute.

Would it be better to a) record the shit straight to DAW, with the purest possible signal, and then fiddle with EQs n such or b) feed through an EQ-torqued analog mixer prior to the DAW, with a marginally diddled signal, and then fiddle with EQs n such One option is not really "better" th...

Re: Production Techniques
In my lifelong quest to get through a single day without making a fool of myself, it seems that for once I have a "serious" question. Cause y'know, noise is some serious shit. Here's my goal: transfer some dusty old tapes to digital media that is potentially releasable, staying as close t...

Re: Cut Up
I will say, for those not inclined to use a computer to edit this kind of material you really cannot beat a high-end cassette deck with some kind of electronically actuated play/pause mechanism. I have a Sansui D-W10 which a friend gave to me and it is astounding how precise the pause control is, wi...

Re: Production Techniques
I could really use some tips on mixing. I have no idea how I should go about creatively arranging the sounds in the stereo field. I'm partial to always having something moving in the mix, so every element doesn't just sit in one place. We'll usually identify a few sounds and try panning them around...

Great to see this band mentioned here. Was lucky to catch them here in Montreal a couple of years back.murmur wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 8:08 pm https://youtu.be/6p_VvIpBVoA
I love this tape, Demo Buena Onda by Ignorantes. The fidelity, particularly on the guitar, is completely insane.
