Re: Extreme metal (death/black/etc)
I am curious to hear what other people think of the new Tomb Mold. I have always liked them but this has so many interesting elements to it, I've been jamming it in my car non stop all week. Lots of shimmery guitars and really twisty riffs happening. For me it's my favourite thing they've done hands...

Re: Extreme metal (death/black/etc)
New Tomb Mold FUCKS hard. Reminiscent of "Human" era Death with some Atheist touches. Wow. Yes. Really solid and the bass playing fucking slaps.
New Blood Incantation single also fucking rips! One DM tune and one synth piece. Gotta get that 12"!!!!!!

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching
It was pretty good! I didn't remember watching the previous one but my wife swears we did.
I watched Confess, Fletch the other night and it was really funny. Jon Hamm is very amusing.

Re: Punk/Hardcore
Oh SNAP!!! I get it now. I was trying to figure out why $70… ah…. So there is a downside to being Canadian…! It wasn't always this way but you can essentially double, triple (or even quadruple) the cost of a new LP especially coming from the US. Even DHL shipping has risen dramatically and the shit...

Re: Punk/Hardcore
Oh I'm Canadian. $35 USD plus the shipping would bring the cost up to $70 each!
I picked up the "Portland Edition" of the Kings of Punk LP in a shop today and even that was $55 plus taxes!

Re: Punk/Hardcore
Y’know, a few years back, All their records have been reissued, save for the Prank 7” to beat some bootleggers. They’re not cheap (what is from Japan?) I remember when those came out (and a slew of boots right before) and I was totally planning to buy them until they landed domestically and they we...
Re: Books
I’m currently taking a break from small press stuff and reading Moby Dick. I read this in my 20's - I remember really liking the parts with Ahab, the whale, etc but by the end I was barely even skimming the chapters on the history of whaling. Currently reading My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Otte...

Took a spin with my boots of Fuckheads and Equalizing Distort. Just absolutely fantastic. I picked up the last LP a while back and I have only spun it once so far, gotta get a little deeper into it.Happiness, forever wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 7:34 pm Listening to Gauze right now, my opinion has not changed over the years at all, they RULE!!!

Re: Punk/Hardcore
How many folks here are into the noisier side of punk like crasher crust? It's hit or miss for me - I love GLOOM but during my last bender for this stuff I was listening to Zyanose and felt kind of uninspired by it. I really dig Isterismo a lot too. I think at this point in my life I'm more interes...

Re: Punk/Hardcore
I just got the Pyhäkoulu 2LP in the mail. This thing is fucking amazing. Somewhere firmly rooted in hardcore, but with almost gothic tinges but without going post-punk. Very weird, and hard to explain vibe. This is cool. Thanks for the tip. Yeah, this was not on my radar - I'm going to check it out...

Really love this one - lots of drum machines, Chrome-esque minimal industrial. "A posthumous release for people who like early industrial music made by punks like Missing Foundation, Factrix and Minimal Man"

Re: Punk/Hardcore
Wonder what the runoff of Finnish hardcore into....Finnish experimental was like if it even happened at all? I can safely say that this is one of the weirdest compilations I have ever heard, and highly recommended!!! https://www.discogs.com/release/13615763-Various-P%C3%B6ly%C3%A4-Experimental-New-...

Re: Punk/Hardcore
Swedish and Finnish hc are absolutely top tier for me - Anti-Cimex are probably my favourite hardcore band outside of (the obvious default choice) Black Flag. I love stuff like Mob 47, Asocial, Filthy Christians, G-Anx, Arroganta Agitatorer, Discard, Agoni, Shitlickers, Totalitar, Crudity, Crude SS,...

Re: Incapacitants Talk
I only have those Alchemy releases in the ABIS set currently. I never listen to them because the packaging is so fucking annoying, haha. Right down to the adhesive for the poly sleeves being on the flap instead of the main body of the sleeve... INFURIATING! I feel this sentiment deep, deep in my so...

Re: Incapacitants Talk
My copy of Repo arrived last week and I finally had some time to throw it on - I have a CD version in the "Alchemy Box is Stupid" but this singular release is extremely well done and really serves the LP format. I know people don't always love the Urashima versions (I would also love to be...

Re: Underrated and under hyped projects
We're gonna do a multi-CD that will collect a lot of those tapes that are impossible to find. Hell yeah that's really sick. That will make a great compilation. What Mass Marriage material is the best? I was variously fascinated and underwhelmed when I was digging through live clips/samples from her...

Re: General release questions/Collector scum circle jerk
The collector market being as it is I sold my Totalitar records in the early 00's and watched prices go nuts! I was only able to buy the reissues back a couple years ago. It's made it easier to part with stuff I don't need and I've become real patient for the things I'm after. One has to wonder, is...

Re: Underrated and under hyped projects
Mass Marriage. People like her stuff but I'm convinced she's a genius and underappreciated as a unique voice in heavy electronics, from sound to visuals to overall aesthetic and vibe. I LOVE Mel's work. I interviewed her recently and she was such a lovely person to chat with. I have a few wants fro...

Re: Underrated and under hyped projects
Defektro is Australia's finest, flat out. While his work as a pedal maker is revered with Lastgasp Art Labs , I feel like I have never heard any prominent discussion of his noise. I have a 7" that I haven't gone back to in a long time (Hard Luck Heart? I think) that I'll have to pull out this ...

Re: General release questions/Collector scum circle jerk
This is not noise related but I just found out the Heresy/Concrete Sox LP comes with an insert and mine doesn't and I've had it for 25 years without this knowledge and now I apparently want to buy a second copy with an insert. What a dumb hobby!!

Speaking of Dropdead, I picked up the Exploding Corpse Action LP on Armageddon recently, featuring Devon from Monster X and damn that shit was GREAT. Like seriously great, raw with some serious riffs. Went through the Monster X 7" and those fucking ruled too.

Re: Comic Books, Graphic Novels, Trades, etc.
The Sandman saga, the original, really is super great. They did a mighty fine job with the teevee series too, thot i. I haven’t read any of the newer additions into the Sandman saga, eventually. I really enjoyed The Sandman adaptation - usually they translate pretty well, I enjoyed American Gods an...
