I need to get that Ordinary Machinery at some point Erik - it is really good. This thread is making go back through everything. Re: Work/Death
Stoked this thread is up - I love Scott's work. I know "Phone about to ring" is often sited … I think rightly so … and honestly everything I own and have heard has been inspiring to me. Also amazing audio, and visual work on his label Three Songs of Lenin. Most is multi coloured screen-pri...

Re: Canadian noise in decades past
Brian Ruryk certainly needs to be mentioned, guitar noise dada extraordinaire since the 80s and still strong Love Brian's packaging. One I have is just a bank envelope ATM-booth-style, crinkled with a picture and wrapped tightly around the cassette with elastics. Very simple yet effective. Yeeeeees...

Re: Canadian noise in decades past
Not sure if Frazer Hall / blackhumour is still in Canada? or how active he still is.
Didn't see anyone mention him yet in this thread, just GX from the same era - but a lot of his old releases had a Vancouver PO Box, or live recording info from Vancouver, etc.

Re: Off-Shoots of Macronympha
One of my favourite splits Stella did was with Kites "Interior Moon" LP - very hypnotic. Love the type work on the cover too. I never got the fancy one with the Cdr and CS (maybe someday), but I think it is a solid release worth mentioning. Maybe a bit different from his other splits. Also...

Today/yesterday some older ones while working - all re-listens: John Duncan - Organic The bassoon has an eerie sound on this. Re: Pathways to Noise / Place and Time
Think this one for me (my path into noise) is in multiple layers or events. I feel like some I didn’t realize were happening at the time - and are easier to piece together now that I am older. I grew up in a small steel/coal mining city in Cape Breton - Sydney. Pre internet - was hard to stumble upo...

Re: Noise from Beyond the West
I'll start with an all-time favorite artist a lot of people aren't familiar with. Halim El-Dabh (1921-2017, Egypt) Actually invented tape music in 1944 (predating Pierre Schaeffer) with Wire Recorder Piece or The Expression of Zaar . This piece and many of his other early electronic and tape works ...

Re: Collection Storage / Organization / Display
My collection is all over the place and not organized as of the last few years. I wrestle with how to organize it, and then end up just leaving it as is. For the most part I know where things are - but a few are lost in the unorganized sea. I have downsized over the years, and then upsized, then bac...
