I'll always remember browsing the Relapse catalog back in the 90's and seeing the listing for some cassette or maybe double cassette that was encased in a huge block of concrete, so you had to break open the concrete if you wanted to play it (and also pay for shipping a giant block of concrete!)

Just got an email yesterday asking Juhyo to play one of four dates this summer that are booked for Tourniquet (and hopefully more if these go well). Feels like there's some fresh folks coming in to add some energy to the scene, I'm stoked for it.

Completely agree with the sentiment about it being easier than ever to make noise, but that doesn't exactly translate to acceptance from the noise scene, which is what I'm trying to get at. on a similar vibe, Just Before Dawn from 1981 is worth a watch. Standard "five college kids go for a camping trip in the backwoods, hilarity ensues" horror movie, but it's early enough that not everything feels by-the-numbers, and it maintains a solid creeper vibe throughout.

as far as producing noise, some of the same things apply, but personally I've never had to crank anything so loud that my neighbors would hear to get the result I wanted. I do live in a detached house in the city, so my neighbors are close but not sharing walls; your mileage may vary.
