Re: A Fail Association - Mirror | Meditation CS (private release, 2021)

Sounds like it's an amazing listen. Which public releases from the project would you recommend? The Chaos is a System tape on No Rent, and his contribution to the Texas 3LP compilation on RRR are personal favourites. Just thought I'd mirror this for the sake of redundancy. Ah yes! Undecided if a me...

She's still paying, I think under her own name. Recently appeared at one of the Midfield events.

Green Tea - Children of the Wisteria (Satatuhatta) CD Fantastic second effort from Green Tea. Pursues a somewhat more overt new age vibe amidst the psychedelic harsh noise than the first CD I released on New Forces earlier this year. Particularly on the last track you can hear echoes of mid-2000s g...

Re: Introduce yourself

Hello, and thanks for the kind words. I was lucky enough to stumble into the Japanese scene and discover how amazing everyone was, from which point on I tried to help however I could to spread the word. I was able to set up Zeni Geva's first show in SF (with Pain Teens, and Neurosis opening for the...

New Tomb Mold FUCKS hard. Reminiscent of "Human" era Death with some Atheist touches. Wow. Yes. Really solid and the bass playing fucking slaps. I haven't checked the new album, but the two tracks they played from it in the middle of the set on Friday really shifted the mood of the whole ...

One great season in 2008 and for the past 15 years things have been getting progressively worse. USPS international rates should be considered criminal, in all honesty.

Re: Books

Finally finished reading Paul Bowles' Let It Come Down the other day after having misplaced it for a couple weeks (surprise: it was in a box under a bunch of tapes). Not as big of an existential gut-punch as The Sheltering Sky , but still a fine descent with copious amounts of nihilism in the face o...

NOISEXTRA

I haven't kept up with every Noisextra episode over the years, but have been listening more as of late. The latest episode with Bee was quite enjoyable. Bee's own trajectory is interesting in and of itself with a strange early rise to "fame" in Japan, and ties to certain clubs in the UK un...

Re: Cassette repair thread :/

Try fast forwarding and rewinding the tape to the ends completely, perhaps multiple times. That could do the trick.

It may also be due to a manufacture error of the shell. The holes for the capstans may be off ever so slightly.

Scatology was my first exposure ages ago and I still love it. Perhaps blasphemous, but I don't actually love Horse Rotorvator as a whole, though it has some absolutely undeniable tracks ("Ostia (The Death of Pasolini)", for one). Musick to Play in the Dark Vol. 1 and The Ape of Naples are...

This thing is fucking amazing. Somewhere firmly rooted in hardcore, but with almost gothic tinges but without going post-punk. Very weird, and hard to explain vibe.

The Andrew Liles years where he [...] takes over Steven’s mixing, not so much for me. This is a big part of it, too, that I sometimes neglect to acknowledge. I feel I don't line up with the consensus of most C93 fans, I really love the post-Cashmore albums, and his last two, especially If A City Is Set Upon A Hill ; which is one of his strongest in his whole discography in my opinion. It's just really melancholic music I fully intend on revisiting that ...

Favorites from C93? I have only been getting into them for the past few months or so. There's just so much. The C93 hill can seem insurmountable, but there are more or less specific eras one can focus on. As Natalia mentioned, Thunder Perfect Mind (1992) may be the project's magnum opus and set the...
