Re: substance abuse/usage in noise
Hot Tip: Don’t take advice on creativity from 4Chan trolls! Were you high when you typed that? No. Do you benefit from Mandatory Minimum Sentencing? or just that prohibition con servative rust belt leaning? I believe that everything should be legalized. EVERYTHING. Btw I am originally from the East...

Re: substance abuse/usage in noise
It’s really cute this topic, “drugs in the scene”. Is this referencing the way it was 5, 10, or 20 years ago? Because as far as I can tell the economic pandemic power grab by the 1% in the 2020’s killed any semblance of a concurrent noise community. Which has now been relegated to a predominantly d...

Re: Work/Death
i've seen work/death a bunch of times, but one memory sticks out: 119 gallery in lowell, guessing around 2010-- it was so loud i had to leave the room. it wasn't even like it was all high pitched feedback, that's easy to destroy someone's ears with -- this was all low end rumble and it was absolute...

Re: Opinions on digital subscriptions to labels
I got an email from Richard Ramirez via bandcamp and he is going to be doing a subscription-type thing, but it's going to include physical copies of releases, too. So that's probably not going to be some $5 digital download thing. Hopefully I can afford it. All I really want is to be able to pay $5-...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?
My back is so bad now that I'm going to see a specialist about it. Right now, I have a package outside of my place that is too heavy for me to bring inside. I can walk around and whatnot, so I feel like people are judging me as pathetic for it. :P Felt like a total douche couple years ago at work. ...

Re: A Post-Discogs Future
Literally the only time I ever used discogs to buy something was to ensure I reserved the one copy of something from a local store who had a "pick up" option (that didn't have shipping). Didn't want to leave my house, just to be disappointed.

Re: Work/Death
Saw him on a bill with I think Gordon Ashworth around ten years ago. He had so many things going on at the same time - moving parts, synths, what-have-you, that I was astonished. And it sounded incredible. One of the best noise sets I've ever seen. I can't imagine how much time and effort he put int...

(PS- What is the name "Lyoto Music" likely a reference to?)

Re: substance abuse/usage in noise
I find it hard not to have a beer at a noise show. I rarely have more than two tall boys, but once its a fest or I'm on tour I have to really think about what I'm doing. When I was younger I played drunk quite a lot, and had this difficult sampler I only seemed to know how to use when I drank. Othe...

Btw I remember often standing around, watching everyone's gear between sets at shows while everyone playing (and some of the audience) ran outside to smoke weed.

Turns out they're named after an obscure Western named "Cry Blood, Apache". Couldn't find much about the band, but almost the entire album that has the song you posted is on youtube (sans the first track). For some reason, I can only find the youtube videos through some site called sonic h...

Releases of note (so far) for 2023
Thought starting it now would make it easier to keep track of them for year-end lists. Btw should December 2022 releases be added? Stuff from late December the year before people make lists usually get overlooked. I don't know how many people included White Gold - 3 or Wasteland Jazz Ensemble - ST o...
