Re: True Crime Electronics (Slogun, Deathpile, Fistfuck etc.)
For Bloodyminded, the answer would probably be the "True Crime" album, ha. "True Crime" was my introduction to Bloodyminded and I loved it. Over time "Trophy" grew a lot and as of now I consider "Trophy" to be the bands masterpiece. The minimalism, the primit...

Re: Noise & The Hi-Fi
Somehow I always had it in my head (I think I was told this by an audiophile friend) that a higher end cartridge might reveal more of the imperfections of an LP in regards to pops and clicks... I think a "better" cartridge will reveal more imperfections in a sense of poor mixing or sound ...

Re: Noise & The Hi-Fi
The cartridge can have a HUGE impact on playback and sound. A sharper cut stylus (like Shibata or LineContact) is not only able to better track information (or track more information) but at the same time is not as sensitive to dirt. I am not saying that a sharper cut is always better than eliptical...

Re: Noise & The Hi-Fi
I finally did it! Swapped out my 20 year old speaker wire (pretty sure they threw it in for free when I bought my NAD receiver - shit that was before I was married) with 14g sealed wire with banana plugs and I don't want to tell tales here fellas but I DO HEAR A DIFFERENCE. From my experience there...

...and a pair of Technics SL-1200 MK2 turntables. A funny detail is, that one of the SL-1200's is from the late 70's and the other's from the mid-90's and they look exactly identical. The SL-1200 turned 50 this year. From Mk1 to Mk2 they changed the design a little (the pitch-fader got introduced w...

HÖH/Violent Shogun - Untitled (Narcolepsia) My first encounter with both projects. A-side has some beautiful lo-fi tape-loops and in-between-stations-radio. Very organic flow and a wonderful oldschool, murky sound. B-side sounds a little more refined and "musical", while A-side had a more...

Merzbow - Animal Liberation (Until Every Cage Is Empty) Loving the title and artwork so it was a quick process to decide to order the new Merzbow album. Five tracks, clocking in at about 50 minutes total. Tracks are kind of similar, with a rumbling, darker layer in the background. Mostly made from ...

Taint - Recycled (RRR) Got it from Sentimental Youth and played it for the first time yesterday. A side is a mix of feedback, some out of control synths, some special interest adult-entertainment samples and some vocals. One long track. Side B is another long single track, but this time it is more ...

Re: Listening Habits
I also tend to listen to albums only once through before moving onto the next thing because I only have a limited amount of time to listen to music, and too much music to listen to. That is something I have been shifting to as well and I try to get listening to new stuff more than once again. Tryin...

https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a0537738148_16.jpg Meathook Saint - Remains Of A Hive C10 is out now. Blown out fieldrecordings and white noise, buried beneath layers of distortion. Type-1 C10, clear case, b/w xeroxed cover. https://meathooksaint.bandcamp.com/album/remains-of-a-hive Got a few copies left...

Re: How do you organize your collections?/When do you sell off records?
For "regular" music: Cut down on CDs about two years ago and sold about 3/4 of them. The rest is neatly tucked away. Buying and listening only to LPs. Collection is not that big compared to other collectors. Got it ordered by genre and alphabetically then. Works well for me. Noise and pe s...

Entombed - Clandestine
The album turned 31 on saturday so it had to be played. One of my alltime favourites ever. To me this is peak-Entombed.

I get some real heavy "it's 2008 and I am surfing the old Tronics board" kind of vibe from that name. Love it.Joie de la Blumpy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 12:30 amYou'll def need to use ^ as a project title sometime.

The untitled Treriksröset CD as well as the Treriksröset/Sewer Election "Killing For Germany" have been played every day for the last week. Still growing on me.
Also pulled out some Dead Body Love. Never gets old.

An alternating major element of my home stereo seems to be always broken. For several months had no working tape deck which I finally replaced. Just recently found that the needle on my turntable is suddenly bent to fuck for some reason and sounds like total shit :-/ Is the system still working? If...

Accepting the fact that one will not be able to listen to everything out there comes first. So how to pick what to listen to? Happens spontaneous and in a non dogmatic way. Not limited to only new projects or only classics, but a mix of both. If a release or a project "speaks" to me, I'll ...

Re: THE RITA
Interested in this "The Rita's Cracked Pointe Shoe" thing coming out. I guess a dedicated crackle mini synth? I watched a demo-video of the little box. Was expecting something like a whitenoise/crackle generator, but in fact it sounded more like a geiger-counter (as which it is somehow de...

Re: epic purchase of bandcamp
For a long time I have thought bandcamp as "too good to be true." And I have been fearing that it will be bought by some evil multinational capitalist slaveship. Is Epic Games one? They promise to keep things as they are, and I hope so. But is Epic Games worth supporting? I can't think of...

I didn't build this and the creator is MIA. I'm really illiterate when it comes to electronics so any pointers would help a lot. Thanks. Can you take some gutshots and upload them here? Also, do you have access to a multimeter? And last: are you definitely sure about the 9V? Maybe that thing runs o...

That's like the old 1176 technique. Just by turning it on, even without compressing anything, shit sounds better.Tinnitustimulus wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 3:31 pm When I had a Mac it was always 2000s era Garageband and I would turn the compressor on but not mess with it.
