Re: Moving beyond "noise for noise's sake"
“Receiving attention” was wording it wrong, Bubble-Congeries said everything better than I could - I don’t mean attention in a (mainstream) media context, but it seems (to me) there are more people than ever discovering noise and getting involved and releasing things. Maybe I’m wrong? There are mor...

Re: Record store & show noise scores
Last month I happened to find two unopened Pierpaolo Zoppo albums in record store clearance racks: MO - Raising Vapours CD on Bloodlust for $3 in Ottawa, and Lyoto Music LP on Urashima for $15 in Toronto. (PS- What is the name "Lyoto Music" likely a reference to?)

Re: Canadian noise in decades past
I was also going to a lot of Montreal noise shows in the early 2010s (though living in Ottawa). Casa is the main venue that I remember, but maybe it was sometimes something else. Probably my favourite local noise-ish project in that scene was S/V\R aka Sévère– are they still active? I remember Dream...

Re: Noise Books
Sort of a catch all thread, I recently read about one called Extreme Music by Michael Tau - it's been out since last year and I haven't heard anyone anywhere talk about it at all so I wanted to see if anyone had read it. It's one of several books that I'm working my way through right now. Been mean...

Re: Favorite noise artwork.
Pharmakon has consistently interesting cover photography, though I'm not sure about the Sacred Bones standard of putting so much text on them (I guess they weren't either, since it changes halfway through the discography).

Re: Time
I'm definitely in the habit of buying more records and CDs (not just noise/PE/industrial, but a variety of genres) than I get around to listening to. Collecting is fun/addictive, there's lots of interesting stuff that can still be picked up pretty cheap at thrift shops, but I'm also trying to finall...

Re: (Potentially) "Problematic" Lyrics/Themes in Noise Music
Are there good examples of noise/PE projects that are particularly provocative/controversial/uncomfortable precisely because the questionable content is decidedly not "extreme," so audiences are denied an easy decision to condemn, or ignore, or hide it? And I don't mean the politically amb...
