Re: Listening Environment

Preferably on speakers in my living room. For some reason, noise-listening is primarily a sedentary activity for me. Can't get in the same zone if I'm walking. Plus the dog seems to like it.

Re: Favorite noise releases of all time

Impossible to answer, but here is a small selection of really good shit that doesn't get old. Purposefully leaving out P.E. since the thread title specifies noise. Secret Apex - S/T Just too good, one of few releases that make the combination of noise and melodic content really work in my opinion.. ...

Fuck yeah. Also snow being compressed by shoes. If the snow is at a specific temperature it makes an almost "rubbery" sound.

Ah, I understand. Well, if you want to hear it, maybe we can.. arrange something, once I get a bit of free time. Nice review, anyway.

Am I understanding you correctly, that you think vinyl is too lo-fi? Never heard that before! It's still available on discogs for a fairly low price.

IFOTS was so fucking good. In my opinion, the "Embers" 7 inch was probably his finest work, but it's hard to say for sure.

This short gabber documentary is a classic. Shaven heads, shady moustaches, hardcore gum gnawing.

Absolutely addicted to Moenen of Xezbeth lately. I think these are the same guys from Perverted Ceremony, it has a similar cavernous, smelly vibe. Great production and tasty synth work as well. Re: Noise Apparel

Death in June seems to really piss people off, but I think people usually look past shirts. Anyway, I wish I had more industrial shirts, and especially hoodies. My favourite SHIFT hoodie is all but dissolved, unfortunately. It surprises me that people don't make more. There are so many bands with gr...

I regularly wear my Genocide Organ, Bizarre Uproar, ZSS, and Filth & Violence shirts. I love all of them dearly. The only shirt I have that I'm hesitant to wear is the ZSS one, cause it's just a huge dirlewanger brigade symbol on the front, hah! That being said, I can't remember anyone commenti...

And I have yet to find current BM bands that are exciting to my ears. I've been having some of the same issues, I don't know if I've become jaded, or black metal has become worse? Probably the former. I really like the new Warloghe, though. Still, nothing that compares to the classics from a few ye...

Re: Dislikes and turnoffs

I don't know that I connect with the importance of feeling as though someone is 'doing something' when they're sat or stood by a table at the same time as sounds are playing rather than letting the wavs roll. I've definitely seen enough sets where very little is going on besides channels on a mixer...

4) noise heads looking down for performers with a laptop I sort of feel as though this prejudice has changed a lot between now and when I first became aware of it. I wonder if the ubiquity/relative affordability of laptops and software has changed a lot about how laptops can be used for noise and t...

I can deal with performers sitting down. What I really dislike is when the audience is sitting down. Gives me bad "academic" vibes.

Been really getting into Breaking the Will and Heat Signature lately. What took me so long?!?? Right? Heat Signature is the bomb. Pogrom - Degančios Suros

This one is something special. Super low-key, yet very effective. Lulls you into that bassy atmosphere before surprising you. Listened twice today. Will listen again.

That Gnawed episode was really interesting, especially the talk about mastering. I've never had anything mastered, in any genre, and always wondered: what difference would it make? Is it worth the money? Nah.. But now I'm thinking it may be worth a try. Cool to hear the mindset of someone on the oth...
