Re: Time

No one gives me a price to listen to everything so I am happy to only follow the stuff I really like, and sometimes do new discoveries. But often enough I don't even have time to do that. Too much other stuff to do.

Re: prized possessions

@WCN

Yeah totally agree sometimes (if not often...) the context of a release can be more important than the sounds itself.

Re: Field Recordings / Natural Sources

Metgumbnerbone / The Curfew Sessions The recording sites and how the group used them, it goes hand in hand in their case. They truly made the most of the enormous acoustics of the sites they chose. The Ligeliahorn LP under the Metgumbnerbone moniker is the more intense, with rhythmic percussion wit...

I think Ramleh Awake! Boxset still sits on top, together with the Acrelid Illigal rave tapes boxset, and after that a few individual tapes or 7" that are special to me.

Re: prize possessions

not gear, books or memorabilia, what are the best recordings you own? I have some fondness for a small hijokaidan collection and some Whitehouse reissues. most of what I have is worthless or not really me. What's wrong with books? what's wrong with gear? books are great. I have a few unusual ones, ...

Re: prize possessions

All my Urashima Sacher-Pelz and M.B. records. I know they are nothing rare but I'm forever grateful to have them on vinyl as they are among my favorite recordings of all time. It's a great thing he re-releases those obscure albums but I never get it why he isn't honoring the original artworks of th...

Re: (Potentially) "Problematic" Lyrics/Themes in Noise Music

May I suggest the last Con-Dom album as fairly brutal in a non-provocative-yet-shoving-reality-in-your-face way? It resonates with me even harder lately as a massive scandal erupted in France a few weeks regarding institutional maltreatment of elderly people in retirement homes. I thought it was a ...

Re: Going to be in the UK... June 19th - July 1st. What's good?

If you're going to be near Hackney Donlon Books is worth visiting, small little book shop with rare, sold-out and obscure books. Not the cheapest prices but at least worth to take a look around. When I was there they did have a copy of one of the come organization kata zines around, didn't think the...

Re: Religious noise, industrial, and related genres

XE/BU did some tracks based around Islamic prayer calls, but I don't think that is quite what you are looking for here. I'm actually surprised that there are not more projects involving ideas of Christianity. Sexual anxiety/shame blended with a Christian sense of guilt/sin would be a great thematic...

Online music platforms (Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple)

Not sure where this topic should go (or even the title), but I thought maybe we can have a general topic on online streaming and all those platforms. Anyway....Bandcamp has been bought by Epic Games, game studio known from Fortnite and Unreal......... The world of independent music got a jolt on Wed...

Listening to this one as the name was not familiar with me and I really like what I hear! Sounds like a less refined version of Alva Noto (and also Oval also comes to mind), great stuff.

I've been looking for distortion or fuzz that makes my RD-8 drum machine sound absolutly horrible but no luck so far. Happy to take any recommendations. I've tried Proco Rat and Digitech Death Metal & Carcosa. Maybe try overdrive + compressor combo, that should do the trick pretty well. Or else...

VOD doing re-releases of obscure and hard to get material only. Surely VOD should do what they want to do but I'm just jealous because I never have money for it and I rather see more affordable CD-re-releases.
