Re: Best of Macronympha

This is what he wrote on the Special Interests board back in 2012: Should mention that a multiple CD box set of the early Macronympha tape releases has been in the works for quite some time and should hopefully see the light of day this year? Set will include the best of all the early tapes as well ...

Re: Best of Macronympha

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania LP (Praxis Dr Bearmann, 1995) Like so many have said, perhaps not their best per se, but just a perfect album, with a proper Album feel to it. And the easily digestible length, 41 minutes, is another factor. At least to me. I've read now and then how the CD reissue on Trash ...

Re: Grindcore / Noisecore / Powerviolence / Gorenoise

Very late to the game with this band, but recently been enjoying Yacøpsæ. A name I've seen a million and one times and never dug into for one reason or another. Dating back to the early 90's and even having material on Slap-a-Ham. Massive discography and some incredible material. Any recommended fav...

Re: BEAT SHIT

I am very much not one for dance music specifically. However, around the shutdown of the pandemic, I had gotten into Twitch streaming of personally coordinated shows and somehow came across Soltera. I'm not quite sure what it is specifically about this artist, but I'm hypnotized. I listen to the tra...

Re: Now Playing

Previously posted how I was revisiting some older Emeralds material. I've also started revisiting some of the Mark McGuire solo material. He truly had a unique brand of ambient music that I can't get enough of, even years later. Each tape is some of my favorite material from the 2000s. Can't tell yo...

Re: Cut Up

One project I'm only recently becoming familiar with is Tyhjä Pää . Finland might not be the first place you think of when you think cut-up. However, this project really changes that. I've heard a couple of releases on Satatuhatta, including the debut album, Prolonged Troubles In Concentration And M...

Re: Cassette repair thread :/

Try fast forwarding and rewinding the tape to the ends completely, perhaps multiple times. That could do the trick. It may also be due to a manufacture error of the shell. The holes for the capstans may be off ever so slightly. Going to try this out, appreciate the advice! I'll report back on how i...

Re: Cassette repair thread :/

Has anyone experienced issues with a tape that will play for 30 seconds and then just stop... Press play again, and the tape will play fine for another 30 seconds and then stop again. At first, I thought it was my tape deck but I' threw in multiple tapes immediately after and since with no issue wha...

Re: Best of Richard Ramirez/Black Leather Jesus/WWJ/etc

Highly recommend people check out Richard's reissue of Varsity . Finally played my copy and I would place it up there with some of his absolute best. And he has a lot of bests. It was originally just a tour CDr in 2006 limited to 40, and now reissued on tape in only probably 10 copies or so. Crimina...

Re: Now Playing

Used some funds on Bandcamp Friday to purchase older Emeralds digitally for archiving and to re-listen to some older material. Still come back to Emeralds quite often and the material holds up for me. Still have a few of the originals of these but don't want to wear out the tapes! Laying Under Leave...

Re: Off-Shoots of Macronympha

I like that first Macrosonic more than anything Macro or any of the offshoot projects or Mlehst ever did, and I say that as big fan of all that shit. The Macrosonic collab, Lords of Sex, was excellent. I'm finally getting around to checking out the new album, Spyke Team, and it's equally as good. T...

Re: Grindcore / Noisecore / Powerviolence / Gorenoise

There is a great new Sissy Spacek collab tape with Isaac of Sulfuric Cautery. Isaac plays drums and Mumma is on vocal duty with Weise playing bass and electronics. Very much the sound you would expect of Spacek mixed with the drumming Sulfuric Cautery. Highly recommend. No digital. https://blastaddi...

Rope Cosmetologist Turn Left c30 and Turn Right c30 Not sure if this is Richard directly, but assume it is. Released this month as a "new noise project" on Room 2A. Excellent shit and one of the best new projects alongside Cruel Map of Women's Bodies. Where Cruel Map is maximalist and bru...

Really glad they are making a comeback. The S/T CD on Misanthropic last year is really fucking good. I also highly encourage folks to track down the 2xLP comp Blackened which is still very affordable second hand. Looking forward to the promised new material this year!

Giving the latest album Absorbing Wanting Symbols on Petite Soles a spin. Stellar all-star lineup including Aaron Dilloway, Richard Ramirez, Sean Matzus, and Bill Nace across the album. Sissy Spacek truly represents a multi-headed collaborative beast of artists and I love the variance across the dis...

Gourmet Shit Scene - Family Portraits c30 (Room 2A) Ripping and piercing junk metal noise from the duo of Richard Ramirez and Sean Matzus. No wall noise or low end on this tape. All piercing highs and lots of feedback! Very active and caustic. Good tape! Controlled Filter - Sniper c30 (Room 2A) Ric...

I always (barely jokingly) say that interracial sex is the only actual modern power electronics when I’m talking about the project I stupidly slept on the Apefrica LP and have been kicking myself. Oskar mentioned reissuing it on CD at one point and I hope that's still planned. I think you must have...

Has anyone read The Imago Sequence and Other Stories by Laird Barron? The author comes recommended based on what I'm reading currently. I've read almost all his stuff up to the collection Swift to Chase (which was garbage imo). He's ok. Definitely just simple entertainment without much in the way d...

One of my absolute favorites from the last decade has been Cough. I don't think anyone comes close to taking the Sabbath sound and bending it toward a psychological break. I think these guys are done, hopefully not, but wish they would put something new out. Sigillum Luciferi and Ritual Abuse are st...

Anticapital is also such a solid release as well but they crafted a perfect grind album here. Always dug this concert and a great view of Rob and his drumming: https://youtu.be/R-h...

Presage - Venerated CS Haven't seen the Presage tape mentioned a whole lot but I agree it is most excellent. Quite the follow-up to Hair Diaries. A few more releases of note: Seepage - Tertium Quid 2CD. Had to wait a little while to get this but it was well worth it. Seepage has become one of my ab...
