Hey, I know this is an old thread but I haven't on the forum for a little while. I'm from Montréal and I've got a PE project called Come and See. I'd be totally down to come to Ottawa to do shows as long as I know a little in advance!
Cheers!

Re: Modular Noise
So by talking with Remi of Violent Shogun I've been rethinking my modules and approaches for making noise. I heard often that Buchla and west coast (additive) synthesis tended more towards harsher results than east coast (subtractive). So looking into the west coast approach on YouTube I stumbled ri...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?
Welp, I've hit yet another creative roadblock. I wanted to try to record a track, but I think I'm overthinking how I want to place microphones. I might also just be getting too bogged-down subconsciously trying to sound like early Whitehouse... I dunno. I've always had problems of not finishing my ...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?
I'm currently letting my frustrations from my day job boil to let it out in the evenings to make angry music. Gotta source that inspiration wherever you can hahahah!!

Re: Modular Noise
Also, while we're at it, I'm wary of modules that are too complex. It's especially the case in the Euro world where makers sell you pretty much full-voice modules or modules packed with so many functionalities or parameters to mess with it makes it harder to understand what it is that you're doing ...

Re: Modular Noise
Hey, quick question. I've been tinkering with feedback and self patching modules as of late and i'm having a lot of awesome results. I've gotten some great results with the Lyra-Fx, Tip-Top Fold Processor, AI Synthesis Matrix mixer and Dreadbox Antidote so far. I can see that some modules are more k...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?
I am currently manually removing volume peaks on Reaper for over 40mn of material. I know I'd rather put a compressor or limiter there, but am dumb dumb. For me it was the weight of comparing myself to all the great music and musicians out there that always stopped me in my tracks. I'd start record...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?
Think of this thread as an open journal of sorts. Write some casual thoughts, and share them. I'll start. -------------- Lately, I've become a tad frustrated and defeated. I've been playing around with my gear for a few months now trying to learn what sort of sounds I'm able to create and make note...

Re: Modular Noise
Hey! Got sucked into modular about a year ago on the advice of a friend. I already had a couple of semi modular synths but always ended up underutilizing their capabilities because I didn't know the basics of repatching them and all the opportunities that it would open up. So when a got into modular...

Re: Getting your music to labels
Before sending anything, take a look/listen to the stuff the label has released before to see if you're a fit. Labels are also not infallible as well. Just because you get a rejection, it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. It could be that the label already has a ton of submissions they're putting ...

Re: WHITE CENTIPEDE NOISE PODCAST
Damn! That The Rita episode is incredible. I'm still new to noise and i must admit that, the albums i've listened of him just didn't do anything for me. But hearing him talk about his process, his point of views just showed me how strong and involved of an artist he his. Thanks a lot for these podca...

Re: Project Feedback Thread
. Can I ask you how you about your recording set-up? Do you record the outputs of your instruments directly to tape, do you mic an amp or you have a whole different process? Yeah sure. This was done using pretty minimal gear, a modded walkman, an Electro Lobotomy crackle box, a few mainstream guita...

Hey! here's a track i finished this weekend for my PE project Come and See. I'd love to know what y'all think of it. I think most of it i've done with a couple of eurorack modules and my Elektron Analog Rythm. Then i've bounced everything in Ableton, tweeked it to place everything where i wanted it...

Re: Getting your music to labels
I’ve had good experiences by simply contacting people via PM on forums like this, and asking them if they’d be willing to listen to a demo or a few tracks. Don’t be pushy, and have some kind of an awareness who is it that you’re talking to. Also, method of delivery. It pays to suggest something, (W...

Re: Getting your music to labels
Realize that most labels are run by one person doing everything for that label, and it's a labor of love, not their day job. They are doing it on top of everything else - job, family, friends, their own artistic endeavors, etc - they have in their life, during the time they can spare. Keep in mind ...

Re: Getting your music to labels
It works the same way as basic human interactions. Send physical releases you made yourself to a real postal address with a nice letter. Don't spam email inboxes with unpersonal emails and links to MP3s. Basically, show respect and care and you'll get some back, even if the reply is negative. Expec...

Getting your music to labels
Hey, I'd like to know what's your approaches when reaching out to labels with your music in the hopes of getting it released by them. Is there a "proper" way to do it these days? Is there some do's and don'ts that anyone new to this should be aware of. Do some of you have specific stories ...

We hope you enjoy our new direction. Really beautiful track. Haunting stuff really. I like the production as well. The bass sits in the right place and there's a good balance with it and the crispy, crunchy textures on top. I think the only part that I find breaks a bit the mood is when the track g...

Re: Pathways to Noise / Place and Time
I think for me it started when i was a kid, through my dad's love for prog rock. One band that would often be playing in the car and at home was King Crimson. Even though it was mostly their 80's albums that were in rotation which are more accessible some of their 70s stuff, they still had all sorts...

Hey! I'm Yannis from Montreal, Quebec. I've been producing PE as Come and See for a little over two years and started performing live last year. I'm happy to have found this place (thanks to White Centipede Podcast). Looking forward to discover/share/help/collaborate in any shape or form with everyo...
