Re: Modular Noise

Thanks all :) we are currently building 10-ish prototypes which will be for sale soon, then we will order the final PCBs (functionally the same but just tidied up a bit) and there will be kits as well as more fully built ones. Will share more videos soon too. It's a very odd module, we are getting s...

Stewart Walden "Turntable Music" (1992) digital re-release

Some friends and I are custodians of the tape archives of Stewart Keith (he of various projects including Smell & Quim, The A Band, Stewart Bizarro, etc), here's one we newly digitised and bandcamp-rereleased. "Turntable Music" - does what it says on the tin: various objects amplified/...

Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD

I wonder if there's people who would buy noise on a Minidisc. Not sure about noise but I personally started /r/VaporwaveMiniDiscs/ as a joke one time and it's unexpectedly blossomed into a thriving scene of people releasing vaporwave on minidisk :D I'm surprised there weren't more Noise MD releases...

Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD

What gear do you all use for field recording? Zoom H1 for 'serious' field recordings but more often just the voice memo thing on my phone, since most good sounds happen when you aren't out trying to do field recordings. The world goes mysteriously silent when you point a fuzzy mic at it. :D (Likewi...

Re: The Haters as home listening experience.

If it counts (GX rather than The Haters per se), i enjoy the Survival Research Laboratories CD a lot, and I wish that albums of SRL shows and the like was a whole genre. Or at least some Grateful Dead-style bootlegging scene. https://www.discogs.com/release/188310-Survival-Research-Laboratories-Surv...

Next weekend 20th/21st Jan is #Oooh_CircuitBent : an International Gathering of Circuit Benders at New River Studios, London, UK. Re: Synth Sounds: Old and New

Not really an answer to this question, but absolutely every time someone posts on SI like "HAI IM NEW TO MAKING POWER ELECTRONICS I HAVE [list of £10000 worth of new synths and gear] HOW DO I COPY THE SOUND AT 02:39 IN THIS 80S DEATH INDUSTRIAL TRACK!?!" and I take a listen to said track, ...

Blixa Bargeld as the voice of The Mummy (1999) Didn't know about this but I love it. Surely must have been his highest paying work ever? Yeah. that was the implication of his answer to the question I think, the gist of it was 'they flew me over there first class and I made growling noises in a stud...
