Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD
if im going out to specifically collect sounds then i likely will have a collection of microphones and a tape player as well as my phone, if i just hear something cool when im out and about or where ever then in most cases i record it with my phone. a good alternative to the default sound recording ...

Re: Modular Noise
thanks, when it comes time to replace it i'll look into mackie! i did get a chance to ask anthony (nice guy!) from bastard noise/hypertrophy etc and he said that its likely signal offset or low pitches under 20khz causing the cone to constantly get pushed or pulled off center which causes it to burn...

Re: Modular Noise
Ouch hehehe! I don't think it's linked to your modular system, unless you are going straight out of it without stepping the signal down to line level. nah, i have a befaco output v3 which brings it down to line level And you don't experience the same issue with other gear? Strange. yeah im not sure...

Re: Cut Up
It can be either. This sub-style is more about how the sound is presented than how it is accomplished. There's no rules about methodology/how the cut-up "effect" is to be achieved. Is it typically only a non-live subgenre? I see names like Kazumoto Endo thrown around and get a little conf...

What’s the deal? yup! its at witch doctor guitar in milaca @ 5pm. basically it was the only venue i could find vaguely in the area that didnt want to charge us for the space and my contacts in minneapolis are lacking as i have not lived there in some yea...

Re: Dream gear and future innovations
Lightweight but durable case for noise_gear. Something that doesn't weight as much as I do, and something I can attach my gear to, already connectd to each other. Guitar/keyboard cases all have downsides that I can't get past. yeah this would be great. someone could probably make them and sell them...

Re: queer noisesters unite
i think its wonderful that theres more trans + queer noise musicians involved in the scene then when i first got interested in the early 2000s, back then if i met someone else who was trans id get all excited about it because it was such a rare occurrence, but now its almost a stereotype for transfe...

Re: substance abuse/usage in noise
people seem to think that if your a artist, writer, or some type of musician that chemical dependency is like roids for bodybuilders but i do my best work sober or lightly stoned (for the sound euphoria). generally alcohol or drugs just make me want to focus on getting wasted and laying around not c...
Re: Tinnitus
If you are getting a high pitched noise that comes every once in awhile and goes away, that is actually a normal part of the aging process. That is not the tinnitus that people fear, which is constant. ah well nothing to worry about there then, just the ever encroaching specter of total oblivion.
Re: Tinnitus
i have some mild tinnitus, occasionally a high pitched ringing will come out of nowhere and gradually recede -- even if i have not been listening to anything loud. sometimes when it is deathly quiet i will hear a high pitched noise as well. i have pretty much always worn ear plugs to shows and try t...

Re: HNW
i like the totally unmoving static style of HNW from time to time but does anyone have some recommendations that are similar to night of the bloody tapes by cherry point? something much more dynamic? i do wonder if it came out today if people would recognize it as HNW at all, it does seem that the t...

first time hearing savage gospel i think. Heh. Is that, like, a dis? That split is literally right at the top of the to-listen pile. As in the unopened buncha packages piles. But I'm sure it's in there. Better fucken be. no lol i just haven't heard any of their material before. i liked both sides o...

Re: Generational differences in the noise community
the investment to get into noise is simultaneously smaller and bigger then it was previously, which is to say that you can of course do all the online things with forums and social media and free programs like vcv rack but also that the classic noise pedals such as the jason lamb dod ones are getti...

Re: Pathways to Noise / Place and Time
i had a fisher price lion king tape recorder as a kid that had a built in microphone, i enjoyed blowing into it to make "thunderstorm noises", was also a big fan of hitting pots and pans together which im sure generated a very relaxing ambience for the family. as a young teenager got into ...

Re: Generational differences in the noise community
there were not many people my age when i got into noise as a teenager, i think thats probably pretty common and in fact it seems many more young people are aware of noise now then were back then as evidenced by somewhat widespread memes about noise, merzbow, etc. that seem to spread beyond the confi...

Hey! i have a queer noise/powerelectronics project called Frenzied Destruction :) i first got into noise in the early 2000s from a grindcore / crust background and had my first tape released by the french label underground pollution in 2007 - there were other digital releases that disappeared into t...

my first release after 15 years hiatus and first full length ever! https://i.postimg.cc/hGSqq6GX/album-art.png 60 minutes of atonal gendercrime anthems recorded during a period of personal loss and increasing criminalization of transgender body autonomy. for the unlovely and rejected: this is harsh ...
