Aux Morts is certainly one of the best unsung LPs on CMI.
And thank you for turning me on to it! It's excellent.

I love Raison d'être, Brighter Death Now, and Memorandum, off the top of my head! I need to explore this label more.

Re: Punk/Hardcore

https://youtu.be/ZtdTtEd0idc Been on a French Oi kick the past few days. I was trying to nail down what I really like about a lot of French Oi, while not having much of an interest in the rest of the genre. My friend said there's a sort of "anthemic post-punk" kind of quality to it, which...

What are some modern punk bands (from the last five years or so) that people here have been following, or super into?

TASCAM DR-05X, quite happy with it; I've got some really nice, clean recordings. Though I find at times it can be easy to clip, especially in very loud industrial settings. But I'm still learning how to use it.

Some pics of our setup from a recent jam. https://i.imgur.com/zLFDpBg.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4D0kisk.jpg Finding a concert snare stand for that car rim was hard, since its diameter is larger than most common snare diameters, it just barely fits. The large A-frame stand is made out of structural ste...

Re: Listening (to) space: Mono vs stereo

Stereo one hundred percent. Most music I listen to is alone, in my bedroom, with headphones on. I like engaging with deep listening and immersing myself in soundscapes. The panning effects in experimental music are one of the most exciting aspects for me. The amount of different effects you can achi...

Re: OBOO / WEICHES LOCH - Metalo Ritmo Frakaso 12" split

I am trying to figure out a some sort of arrangement with a recordshop if they could sell and mail records to the outside world slightly more conveniently than us. That would be good for getting things out there more for sure, though I was able to get in touch with Tamon Sin on Instagram to get a c...

How many folks here are into the noisier side of punk like crasher crust? It's hit or miss for me - I love GLOOM but during my last bender for this stuff I was listening to Zyanose and felt kind of uninspired by it. I really dig Isterismo a lot too. I think at this point in my life I'm more interes...

Thanks for making that list!!! Btw Knurl (Canada) and Diaphragmatic (Nate Tandy, brother of Luke Tandy) belong on there. I ended up putting Pholde on there which is his related side project, since Pholde has more clean metal sounds, whereas Knurl is that blown out harsh noise sound. I may include K...

How many folks here are into the noisier side of punk like crasher crust? Thinking Japanese bands like Gloom, Zyanose, Deceiving Society, or American bands like Atrocious Madness, Zatsuon, etc. For years it was an obsession of mine and I feel made me more open to noise music.

Scrap metal percussion

A thread for talk about metal percussion. Think Test Dept., Einstürzende Neubauten, Z'EV, but also artists like Chu Ishikawa or Militia. I feel I basically have a fetish for metal sounds, and I'm a drummer, so over the years I've become completely obsessed with this style of music. It has taken over...
