Re: Noise with Drums

I don't think they've been mentioned and I feel like they are worth mentioning. Actuary, had at least a couple releases with noise/bass/drums and I think they did it well. I got to see them live once in this style as well. Admittedly, drums (especially rhythmic) in noise is not my favorite thing but...

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

The Godfather , 1972, Francis Ford Coppola But yeah, you've all seen this one right? Yes. Yes. Am I the only one who finds these movies boring? If I want a mafia film I go for Goodfellas. I can see why people find it boring. Especially compared to Goodfellas, which I've seen about a million times. ...

The Godfather, 1972, Francis Ford Coppola

It holds up. I haven't seen it in probably over a decade. Classic mafia film with an emphasis on the family. Looking forward to watching Part II tonight. Unless I get in a Succession mood.

But yeah, you've all seen this one right?

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

Sweet Relief , 2023, Dir. Nick Verdi. An odd film. Hasn't played around much yet but I'm writing around seeing if I can get a screening in Pittsburgh somewhere. It stars author B. R. Yeager as an obnoxious, loud, killer, of sorts. Centers around three high school-aged girls participating in a viral...

Begin Hostilities

I started a new label, and the first two releases are out today. Lina " Your Eyes On Her, Just Like She Wants " CS I've been wanting to do a new Lina tape for a while. I've also been wanting to start a new label for a little while too. With this release I am doing both. Lina is the harsh n...

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

A Field in England , 2013, Dir. Ben Wheatley Ok, this is definitely one of the best looking movies I've seen in a long time. I loved it. I loved it so much. To sum it up, a coward runs from a battle, meets up with a few people and unearth a devil. They do his bidding until they try to escape. It's ...

Hitcher in the Dark , 1989, Dir. Umberto Lenzi A nasty little film. A young, attractive, man with family money drives an RV around kidnapping and killing girls. He stalks a young lady he's particularly fond of for a day or so, kidnaps her, and basically attempts to use her to fill the space in his ...

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

Dark Waters , 1993, Dir. Mariano Baino Another horror blu ray I bought a few years ago, watched, and decided to return to. The tone, atmosphere, visual style, and content of this film are all perfect for me. I've been in a folk horror mood lately and this one is especially Lovecrafty, which I love....

Aenigma , 1987, Dir. Lucio Fulci A fun, hallucinogenic, supernatural horror film. Later Fulci. The popular mean girls at an all-girls catholic school set up some poor spazz, a prank that ends tragically causing an extended stay in the ICU. But she has her revenge, telekinetic murder. Lots of good k...

Love it. Especially when it fits into the idea of the project like Tearoom Trade. I've been very vocal in the past about wishing there was more from that project.

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

Sometimes working at Half-Price Books really has it's perks. I found a copy of "The Incredibly Strange Films of Ray Dennis Steckler" box set that Severin released and with my discount (and money put on my employee card for my anniversary) I was able to get it for around $20. The Hollywood ...

Re: Noise in the Mainstream

Anyone seen Peter Strickland's Flux Gourmet from 2022? Debatable whether this is mainstream I guess, but it does star Gwendoline Christie and Asa Butterfield and is available through fucking Amazon Prime and Apple TV - that marks it as overground in my book. The sound art tools featured throughout ...

Re: Releases of note (so far) for 2023

Green Tea - Snowblower. Already a top favorite for the year I've played it many times since it came in the mail. Hard to believe that it's a debut, I really hope that a follow up isn't far behind. I just heard a snippet of Children of the Wisteria and loved it. So I turned it off and ordered Snowbl...

Re: Books

I’m currently taking a break from small press stuff and reading Moby Dick. Which I’ve been meaning to read for years now but have not. I relistened to LPotL’s two-part series about the tragedy of The Essex while kind of already having the idea that I wanted to read this and it definitely got me more...

Re: True Crime Electronics (Slogun, Deathpile, Fistfuck etc.)

I recorded something today. Heavily focused on the kidnapping of Jaycee Dugard. Keeping everything kinda buried and not going to explicitly use images of her for the artwork though. Unlike the Brudos tape I did that came in a miniature shoebox and had his pictures on it. Anyways. I recently started ...

I’ve listened to Dysphoria Ultra by Nit a couple times now and am really liking it a lot. Gonna have to figure out how to get my hands on some more of his work.
