Re: Noisecore thread?

Noise are definitely a very influential band for me when it comes to how I handle my music stuff, and they're also one of my ultimate favourite noisecore bands. The LP compilation is far from complete, although these are all the "official" demos they released. There are also tracks on comp...

Re: Punk/Hardcore

If I may, I hear the "post punk" description as the fact some bands use a Chorus pedal in their songs. By some bands I mean Syndrome 81 or Litovsk, and maybe two Parisian bands, and this is talking about the French punk bands that got some recognition abroad thanks to chance and hype. The ...

Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD

The world goes mysteriously silent when you point a fuzzy mic at it. :D (Likewise stops moving much when you take the Super 8 camera out.) It's maddenning. Some cosmic trickster at work, no doubt! BTW, without getting too in the weeds, though I realize MiniDiscs actually record lossy audio, somethi...

Re: Dislikes and turnoffs

Untitled tracks. That's interesting, and very subjective imho. I strongly dislike giving titles to tracks and I really disliked the one time a label forced me to create titles for my tracks on the release they were putting out as I didn't create them with titles in mind. To me, titles for abstract ...

Re: Releases of note, 2024

I didn't like Tahma's tape as much as I wished. The approach is great but the sounds didn't appeal to me much. I'm looking forward to whatever is coming next though. The new Mogao tape is amazing, imho. It has an organic and "rusty" (to quote a friend who used the perfect word to describe ...

Re: Modular Noise

Any good fuzz eurorack module recommendations? Ritual Electronics Miasma with the Crime 2 expander. You get different flavours of distortion going very fuzzy and wavefolding, and it works great in conjonction with their Altar filter (which is the only reason I still have a eurorack rig. I love it s...

[...] Sure, either you build stuff yourself or you commission it or you get ripped off by Random Source bullies if you want them in a non-euro format but that's doable. Oh? Care to elaborate? I had a couple R*S Serge modules, wldve loved a whole system (or better a real Serge tbh), very fun. You've...

Re: Modular Noise

I think i did not make myself clear. For sure because english is not my native language, so my commentary did not sound right. I don't disagree with any opinions posted here. I just share my point of view why, for me, eurorack works better. I totally agree that the choice of the modular format only...

Re: Modular Noise

I wasn't trying to be a purist or anything. I still have some euro modules and a rig I keep using because I can't find similar filters or VCOs in the format I like better so they all communicate through format jumblers. It's all about what you make of it, whatever it is, but it doesn't have to be be...

Re: Modular Noise

I don't think eurorack really is more accessible than most other modular formats. In terms of choice and availability, maybe, but you can buy new 5U modules that look and sound awesome for less than their shiny eurorack equivalents, and while my 4U boats are expensive, if you take into accounts I ha...

^ Me for the last 6 years trying to figure out my MS-20 (and wishing those Behringer Roland Juno clones had been around because all I want to do is make John Carpenter type sounds now). In all seriousness synth guys from the 70's/80's spent their whole lives figuring that shit out - and it wasn't a...

Re: Travelling overseas for a noise show? Who's dunnit?

If you're going for longer than the fest, save as much money as you can beforehand. Food is good and usually cheap in Japan, accommodation less so although it can be arranged. However, having as much money as possible with you when you're there is important because the last thing you want when you'r...

Re: Self Releasing/Starting Labels

I love tapes madly but there's no sense getting any of them pro-dubbed in big quantities nowadays considering you can produce pro-Cds for half of what they cost and sell these for twice as much. Yeah, you produce 200 CDs and not 80 or 100 tapes. But as a label it's your duty to make sure the artist ...

Regular tinnitus and permanent deafness here. I live in a world in which everything sounds muffled as if I were standing behind cotton walls, yet some frequencies can just start ringing and drive me insane but they usually show up when I feel physically exhausted. It's like having your audition proc...

Re: Cut Up

I've seen people do cut-up noise with MPCs and SP404s.

I'm sure you could do the same thing with an Octatrack but the crossfader would hate you after a while (and I wouldn't want to break an Octatrack by going mental on the crossfader, to be quite honest.)
