Re: Kansai Noise Now
Kazue Asano uses self-made instruments to create sometimes noisy, industrial ambient soundscapes. I always enjoy seeing other people use self-made "junk" too, and in that sense I think her approach is quite close to mine; take something ordinary and make something very unordinary out of i...

Re: Kansai Noise Now
One really interesting artist is Fuji-Yuki, a singer whose vocal drones and ritual ambient works are really good. She has a new album One Butoh out through Akuphone and this CD of a live performance with Makoto Kikuchi , who is also an artist who uses guitar noise and theremin, usually under the tit...

Re: Kansai Noise Now
Which brings me to my probably favorite person in the world, he is not noise artist or not in a noise scene or even a musician in any of those senses, but he is a performance artist whose performances often deal with sound or produce interesting sounds even when that is not the main purpose of it, ...

Re: Kansai Noise Now
There's a lot of modular synth noise and ambient in Japan, but I think Masayoshi Sakaguchi is among the best ones I have seen, usually starting from more abstract sounds and then moving towards more structured beats, it has a sort of gritty, noisy triphop feel to it at best times. Which reminded me ...

Re: Mourning damaged releases thread
All my records melted into a one huge plastic mountain in a house fire, and usually I don't miss them too much but occasionally there are some moments when I remember that "oh yeah, I used to have that one too and it's gone!". Things I miss the most were the vinyls of Burrough's Nothing He...

Re: Kansai Noise Now
I thought there was a great Statuszero live from 0g or Hokage in youtube but I can't seem to find it. Older lives seemed too basic noise compared to newer ones, his sound has got a lot louder and harsher lately I think, but I couldn't find them. Great stuff nevertheless! サンサンタウン (Sun Sun Town) is a...

Everybody knows Hidokaidan, but what goes on today? I'll post stuff as I have time and remember it, but to start with something here's a few names, not only noise but experimental stuff overall; Juri Suzue has got a bigger name lately, she plays at my local Environment 0g (great venue for noise, exp...

Electric Hobo reissues? YES PLEASE Haha! Cd or tape. Both. Yes. I need to buy more of your stuff when I get my moneybusiness running again. A year ago some German label sent me one e-mail about reissuing some Electric Hobo on vinyl, but when I replied them I never heard anything back anyway, so bus...

Re: Self Releasing/Starting Labels
Personally for me the degradation and disintegration are the real point of using such formats, but to my taste tape disintegrates better and more beautifully, whereas CDr might just stop playing.

As an offshoot of the self-release/label topic, didn't want to spam there so I do it here. Some sort of industrial ambient/free music/nice noise/spoken word/guitar meditations/whatever happens to come through me, books, and artworks can be found from this bandcamp page, all of this stuff is what kee...

Re: Looking for junk metal abuse
Weiches Loche Weiches Loch are one of the best in the game right now, though they're squarely in the metal percussion side of things. Cool to see them mentioned, though! Well, current Japanese ones; Kaoganai, Linekraft, and both Sano Atsushi and nulkvarcent from Weiches Loch pretty much use junk me...

Re: Dark Ambient
Really love Kanchenjunga, especially live. We used to play monthly event together, he played solo at the time and it was always rewarding to end the evening with him blasting louder than all the noise shows before. Now it is a duo where he plays bass and there is a singer, also really good but diffe...

Re: Self Releasing/Starting Labels
I actually found out years later that I had half-accidentally started a label for my releases, when I tried to search something else and noticed that in discogs some of this stuff was actually put up as such; https://www.discogs.com/label/1529089-Zen-Filth It made me feel strangely good, although th...

Being pissed off and trying to figure what the fuck happened to my bluetooth headphones. Friday they worked normally. Saturday and sunday didnt use them. Battery is like 80% etc and no warning, no nothing: the left channel doesnt work at all anymore. Back to wired ones for now. God damn it. wire sn...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?
preparing for show, left almost all of the effects out. Making some food soon. Trying to figure out the money thing for the future, although I know it is impossible anyway. Should go through and edit a book of poems, make a couple of album artworks for other people and probably something else (that ...

yeah I know the feel from some of my own stuff, although I never did it to that extent and lately I have moved on to washi for that sort of feel. I tried to find some picture with the thing but apparently don't have any. But mainly I like the process of constant building, destroying and rebuilding (...

From Finnish painters Emma Ainala, Heikki Hautala, Reima Nevalainen, Minna Partto and Viljami Heinonen are people who made an impact on me.
Of Japanese artists, well, there are too many and I need to make a proper list with time.

that's genious! Especially the use of acrylics(?) so one can produce the skin like texture in something that looks like a baroque oil painting, great! And over all I really love that tattered and decaying feel, perfect!
Re: Fitness
I do long distance running. I ran my first official marathon in January. I'm not sure I want to do another one after that... I tried to walk 25 km to Kobe last year, but had to stop after 23 when I couldn't walk anymore due to bad shoes (and no preparation, I just got the idea and then I was execut...

Re: Soundtracks & background musics
Ryuichi Sakamoto, for some reason my mind wants to pin even his non-soundtrack works to this pile, just for being so cinematic. Async is one of my favorite albums of all time, and the documentay about Sakamoto is inspiring too!
