Re: Project Feedback Thread

Lately I've been seeing alot of videos where drummers run their set through pedal boards and Im loving the idea. As soon as we get out rehearsal room runninf again, I'll start researching. Dunno if gonna it more with noise stuff or going to add it into our stoner doom bands sonic mayhem. I have don...

Yes.
Yes. Am I the only one who finds these movies boring? If I want a mafia film I go for Goodfellas.
I just don't like mafia movies in general...

Re: New Forum, Same Noise

Sorry for the delayed response. There currently isn't an option to embed Soundcloud or any other player here (and the YouTube one needs revamping). The initial idea of this forum was to have it be a more stripped-down place, away from the busy bombardment of other social media. There are certain th...

Re: Books

what are some others? While it's not based on only one book, Paul Schrader's adaptation of Mishima's biography in Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters totally lives up to the greatness of the original novels. Less artsy, but I think both the film and novel version of Misery are also perfect. (p.s. Sinc...

Re: noise guitarists

Did you ever perform live with this setup? I wish I were, but I was too shy/scared/nervous to perform live alone in front of people :/ But I was often dreaming to play live, had the set going on in my mind, but never actually did any step to make it happen in reality. Still dreaming to play live an...

Re: noise guitarists

Was your guitar itself modified at all in addition? Or was it more about changing the placement of the guitar in relation to speakers/etc.? modified in a way that it was not in tune (at least in a traditional sense). I used to add some tools under the strings, sticks, metal, whatever what i could f...

Re: Cut Up

You can get a splicing block and splicing tape made specifically for this, but I say fuck that and use a pair of scissors and scotch tape(the clear glossy kind with the red label). Works great and it's cheap. I thought about getting both of those, but my small cutter/scotch tape have been my mainst...

Re: noise guitarists

still ultimately controlled the most of the changes of the sound through the guitar? well, I would say that the guitar was the center part, and all the rest around some additions (kind of like "extra-strings"). without the guitar's vibrations or the feedback from it's mics (or both togeth...

Re: noise guitarists

Thank you! Here's what I can remember: I didn't have a mixer, so I used the 4-track cassette recorder instead if I needed to have multiple layers going on at the same time. So the guitar with few effect pedals went first to line1, from there to stereos, and from the headphones output to a small spe...

Re: Extreme metal (death/black/etc)

Tomb Mold is very corny. Some recent records of these genres I liked: Khanate - to be Cruel (mindblowingly good, honestly not sure how they pulled this thing out after so long away, could be the best Khanate ever and miles ahead of anything the band's various members have done, doom metal taken to ...

Perhaps not as mysterious as could possibly be, but I really appreciate the anonymous aspect of so many IOPS releases. I only own the Vile Vulgar and Red Light tapes (as well as some zines), but the approach is very interesting to me.

Weird, I don't tend to think of Darksmith in those terms but maybe that's because I've seen him live and sometimes see photos of him etc. I think in general though you're not going to find a tonne of info about people doing low key noise and/or abstract music unless they put it out there themselves...

Dead of Night is one of those movies that I always forget the name---but never the movie itself. I remember being totally mezmerized with the looping structure when I first saw it some years ago... and the evil doll too, of course! It had to be awesome to see it in a theater! Different " Dead ...
