Re: Noise/industrial documentaries
[Out of curiosity, how long/interesting is the Bizarre Uproar interview in it? Well, the whole thing is about 20 minutes, so …. It goes back and forth between the featured artists, by topic. It’s been ages since I saw it, but my overall impression was ”definitely interesting and worth watching, but...

Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD
How I’ve been using compression is in parallel with an EQ then into other treatment. I’ve found that having a field recording’s dynamics be drastically changed can drastically alter how it hits other effects, like filtering, distortion, reverb, etc. Making the background hum on a recording as loud ...

Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD
I would agree with holy ghost — a compressor wouldn’t be the first thing you choose if you want strange or colourful effects. What’s your budget, and is the size and weight of the unit important (you said rackmounted effects are okay, so perhaps not?)

Re: Religious noise, industrial, and related genres
Planning on dedicating a release to St. Olga, the patron saint of Kiev. Not sure if that counts. She is also the patron saint of defiance and revenge, appropriately enough.

Well, Epic is depriving me of Darkest Dungeon 2 for an entire year, so they are definitely on my shit list.

There’s also this: Romua, Ruiskeita ja Rutinaa / Noise of Finland Noise of Finland is a documentary about finnish noise and power electronics scene. Loud distorted noise made with scrap metal and effect pedals are combined with extreme views and shocking visuals. The barriers of human limits and imp...

Damn. Another shitty job I had was data entry. But that was merely boring, rather than actively should-destroying.totalblack wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 10:13 am I did telemarketing for about 9 years and can guarantee it absolutely turns you into a shell of a person

Re: Project Feedback Thread
This is the most recent "complete work" (under the name Decrepitude) that I have put together, and I would really appreciate hearing what anyone has to say about it - good, bad, or otherwise. Quick rundown of gear? I quite like the more old-school industrial sort of vibe you achieve. That...

Re: Abstract/Weird/Outer edges
I can’t help but imagine him selling magazine subscriptions or vitamin supplements in the same manic voice he uses for Keuhkot.
Telemarketing is THE worst job imaginable. I tried it one summer when I was 18. Didn’t last even a week. It’s a tragedy that he has/had to do that to survive.

Yeah, I think so. Their 2019-2020 releases do have some electronics, but continue to rely heavily on junk metal.

Re: JUNK METAL ABUSE
Almost all of the currently active Finnish noise projects, that I’m aware of, use this technique to some extent. Edge of Decay, Rotat, CoS, Kovana etc. A certain other Finnish project, whose name is an anagram for Arri Barre Puzo, do so masterfully imo.

Re: Noise Space IX (Feb 19, Helsinki)
Really good evening. Great turnout, both the denim vest crowd, as well as the more arty hipsterish scene were in attendance. Which I think is great. Kysta played pretty standard Finnish pedal based noise. Great stuff, but it went on for a bit too long. Live sets of this type are best kept at under 2...

BRYSKT: INLÅST DIY CD-r produced for this event specifically. There will be other BRYSKT releases on sal...
Re: Pets
No pets as such, but back when me and the better half lived in a different area, we would get visited by a crow we named Veikko every day. He was very large and bold, so it was easy to think of him as male. He would walk along the sidewalk with us and even imitate human speech at times. After we mov...

Re: Abstract/Weird/Outer edges
The Finnish one-man project Keuhkot (”lungs”) might be of interest in this thread. His music has been described as a sort of hellish vaudeville or radio sketch. The lyrics often deal with environmentalism, misanthropia and desiring to be a different species. He had been keeping a fairly low profile ...

Out of these, Sabotage and The Coffin in the Mountain really stole the show. China has been churning out some serious heavy hitters recently, especially in the bleak and slow-paced crime department. Black Coal Thin Ice, The Wild Goose Lake, A Touch of Sin, Ash is Purest White . Definitely worth fol...

African Imperial Wizard is pretty great. You’re going to get in trouble for that thread title BTW. That's nitpicking, but anyway I changed the title from "Third World Noise" to "Noise from beyond the West". Honestly not even sure if that's any better. All blanket terms meant to ...
