Re: Jazz/subgenres

Jazz makes up a good amount of what I listen to, but my jazz tastes are almost opposite of my noise/PE tastes. When it comes to that stuff I like the harshest and most unhinged stuff possible, but for jazz things like bossa nova pretty much dominate my interests, I have a very hard time tolerating a...

Re: Likes and Turn-ons

Anything with really over the top screamed vocals. Especially if you can understand the lyrics. I’m tired of really buried rumbly vocals where you can barely make anything out. Weak ass vocals are the cardinal sin of power electronics for me.

Yeah, really hope that gets put back together at some point when it’s possible. Staggering lineup for sure.

Re: Now Playing

Junta Cadre - The Enemy Is Listening (Total Black) - Absolutely great record, masterful power electronics which is perfectly fitting the album format. His last one on No Rent was also really, really strong, but i think that one is even better! Thanks a ton for listening. Very happy with how the alb...

Re: Now Playing

Commuter - Inner SE Industrial (Phage) The atmosphere on this one is quite strong. The noise itself has a slightly reverberant quality that instantly brings to mind sounds echoing through alleyways and under bridges. Where this disc really shines is in the adept patchwork of field recordings and el...

Re: Differentiating Projects

My two PE/industrial acts are split according to theme. I started recording under Herukrat around 2012 which served its purpose long enough to really get a grip on what I was doing, and around 2014 it landed on its primary or “permanent” theme of Islam after dabbling around a few different subjects....

Been having an excellent time going through these recently, really saving me on slow shifts at work the past couple weeks (plus motivating me to keep my ass in gear with my own recording). Looking forward to Taylor’s episode and seeing who else is on the upcoming roster

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

Speaking of Bava, sat down and finally watched Black Sunday , aka The Mask of Satan (1960) last night. Trying to round out a few of his classics I haven’t gotten to yet. It was good, but I prefer his later stylistically unhinged stuff shot in color. https://diaboliquemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/...

Re: Film Discussion / Now Watching

Took Mill of the Stone Woman (1960) for a spin last night. Notable for being the first Italian horror shot in color, had some awesome sets and shot pretty vibrantly. Not the best giallo I've ever seen, but it was definitely fun none the less. https://64.media.tumblr.com/df011052718440f40a841f4c70a95...

Hell yeah way to support. I've got the physical copy and it rules, its worth it for the lyric sheet alone.

Re: Underrated and under hyped projects

Recently it’s my personal mission to get everyone to listen to Aqua-Eroticum - Burnt Carpet, Stained Sheets. Tom doesn’t exactly get no recognition or anything, but I think this album flew under the radar for a lot of people. When was the last time you actually heard a PE album that made you feel ba...

Oscillating Innards - Nadir Emergence I’ve had to drive back to my hometown a few times recently, and this had many listens on those trips, another one just now. One of my absolute favourites. Ticks all the boxes for me, blisteringly harsh at times, vulnerable and fragile at others, beautiful loops...

Here’s all the most commonly used stuff. Korg Minilogue and the SP-404 have probably been the most invaluable over the years. As far as pedals, probably the Digi death metal, and the Genthalz CUNT.

A lot of good advice in this thread. A lot of stuff I'm sure some of us heard when staring off. I don't want to just echo everyone, but I'll repeat a couple of things that have stood out over the years- Take your time and work to be proud at your releases, don't work to drop 6 tapes in a year. Thing...
