Stuck In Your Head

I think we have all gotten songs or parts of songs stuck in our heads from time to time. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this with harsh noise or harsh textures? Can you still hear memorable textures in your head after a release has finished playing? The first time this happened to me was wi...

Re: Sissy Spacek hot chat thread

Disfathom is one of my favorite noisecore releases ever. It's so short I usually just listen through it twice in a sitting. Very excited to finally see Sissy Spacek play live at Dreary North Fest in Chicago this September.

I only heard about this zine after the fact, where was it made available? Any lingering copies of it somewhere? I'm still really disappointed to have missed out on it.

Re: HNW

I love HNW, it has fascinated me since I discovered it. I didn't have a lot of context for it when I was first introduced and that might have been what really drew me in. It tells you exactly what you're going to hear when you press play on almost any track, and yet there is a lot of room for nuance...

COST - Sand Clung Blood (Veil Tapes)

The river runs nearly dry save for the mud that churns slowly underneath. Blood begins to clot, but the wound cannot be fully contained. The thunderstorm is making its way towards you but at the last moment it veers off to the northeast, making its presence unmistakable as it ambles further away. En...

Thousands of Dead Gods is probably still my favorite. I read through this thread yesterday and decided to give it a listen last night after work. It does not get old. There are always new lines and details to be discovered in the static. When I was newer to noise, I was looking around online trying ...

Re: Noise Artists: What are you doing and what's on your mind RIGHT NOW?

Welp, I've hit yet another creative roadblock. I wanted to try to record a track, but I think I'm overthinking how I want to place microphones. I might also just be getting too bogged-down subconsciously trying to sound like early Whitehouse... I dunno. I've always had problems of not finishing my ...

After many months of recording and arranging I am proud to share the second Systems full-length "Endless Tunnel" available via Veil Tapes. All material recorded after dark, as a way to cope with and process times of extreme isolation during quarantine. Everything recorded to 4 track to pro...

The ones that come to mind are: Straight Panic, everything Richard and Sean does, also Visitation (HNW from Australia and used to run the labels: Needle and Knife, Palinopsia Recordings & Tension Collapse), I've worked with all of them and they are great people. I would highly recommend Visitat...

Yeah! Nyege Nyege is a really important and FUN thing. We're headed into more specifically dance music driven territory now (who cares) but the Tanzanian singeli stuff they're issuing recently is just insane. Sometimes it feels as though these oddball, hyper localised takes on club music are some o...

Would also love to get a link to Nick Taskmaster's top 1 fave on bandcamp. Nora(h) T(h)omas "Frank" album? Can't find it. https://noranygard.com/album/frank I’m pretty sure this is it. Not sure why the name is different, but the place (Bismarck) is the same. Discogs lists "Graham Tho...

The new Krallice album, Crystalline Exhaustion , is beyond the beyond. Highly recommended if you're seeking 51 minutes of blissful discombobulation. Seconded for this one. Krallice is an untouchable band for me and have not once disappointed me with their output. 3/4 band members swapped instrument...

Re: Edition Sizes

I think that edition sizes are somewhat conditional on what you are trying to contribute with the label you're trying to run. I personally enjoy home-dubbing cassettes in real time and printing, cutting, and folding jcards or other packaging. For me this means that I make smaller runs of releases, b...

Re: Dislikes and turnoffs

By far my biggest dislike when it comes to noise/pe/etc is when you buy a tape for a release you are really stoked about and you finally get it in the mail and throw it in the player and press play and lo and behold the dub is too quiet. I've bought tapes before where I had to turn the volume on my ...

the thing I like most about the 404 is the ability to play loops of differing bar lengths, so depending on how long the loops are, the piece as a whole will never repeat. so much of my use has been just that - not sequencing with it, not using the internal effects, not sampling directly with it, bu...

It’s not making your recording sound better, that’s mixing, and is done by the artist. I agree with pretty much everything except this (re- mastering). It can make your recording sound both better and worse. Talking about SOUND, not SOUNDS here... It's generally hard to compare a vinyl master with ...

Re: THE DREADED GEAR THREAD

The genthalz stick has less bleed than the EL cutup mixer but both are noticeable. The trog stick apparently has no bleed and I would likely attribute that to the fact that it’s got active electronics so there’s probably bleed caps in the circuit that keep it nice and quiet. That being said, I’ve n...
