Yeah, these are both incredible. Considering that there seem to be at least one or two reissues per month lately, reissues for these two key releases must be on the horizon.

Just got the Space Metalizer DLP in the mail. Looks sick. Urashima did an amaxzng job. I also got those Merzbow/Smegma collab CDs on Helicopter and I'm going to give them a spin tomorrow.

I haven’t but I would also prefer purchase one really good Merzbow reissue for $50 than spend a lot more on a set with (potentially) a lot of filler on it.

I was very interested in the Merzbient set(s) but was never able to justify pulling the plug.

I guess what is interesting to me about the new boxsets, at least the smaller ones, is that they sounded as though they each are representative of a swath of releases from a specific time period, which, to me, would at least give whatever is on them---filler or otherwise---some historical context/value and therefore interest.

I still have not listened to any of the Merzbient material. I just have such a hard time listening well to long albums online that I have been putting it off!

Indeed the 6xCD boxes on Slowdown Records all(?) consist of material recorded in a specific short period of time. For example:

Loop & Collage: 1984-1987
Strings & Percussion: 1987
Tapestry Of Noise: 1989-1991
Metallic: 1993-1995
Green & Orange: 1996-1998
Laptop Noise: 1999
Go Vegan: 2001-2003
Ship Of Chicken: 2004-2005

And so on.... I am not the biggest fan of the laptop era. Although a lot of it is good (or even great) I cannot NOT compare it to the early/mid '90s and it always pales in comparison. Depending on what period of Merzbow one prefers I'd say go ahead and check out one of the 6xCD boxes from that era. Do I want to hear more stuff like Kamadhenu and Dead Zone from 2011? No. Do I want more stuff like Metalvelodrome, Venereology and Noisembryo? Well, yes I do. For me Metallic is fantastic.

I've really enjoyed a lot of the Merzbow reissues from the past 15 years. I love the Lowest Music 1980-1983 boxset, and all the 90s records coming have been awesome. So glad they hit Magnesia Nova + some of these recent 80s reissues.

We are coming up on the 20-year anniversary of Merzbuddha, and this is one I think especially deserves a vinyl release. Personally I think it's thematically important for understanding Merzbow's work, but more importantly I just think it's a good album.

Merzzow and Sha Mo 3000 are two huge laptop-era releases for me and it'd be a shame to see them miss out on a vinyl release. The musicality and textures really shine on these two, they're a perfection of what was established in Amlux.

I might be the only one behind this one, but Tenshinkaku is his earliest laptop release and the fact that it has a remake of a Batztoutai track is the cherry on top--cool bridge of old and new from this time. I actually really like this album.

These three are pretty unlikely since they'd have to be large boxsets with split tracks, but I would be all over vinyl boxsets for Pornoise + Pornoise Extra, 24 Hours - A Day of Seals, and Turmeric. Tremendously great Merzbow boxsets.

Finally, I feel Agni Hotra is underrated. It's a perfect bridge between his early-mid 80s sound (like Pornoise) and his mid-late 80s sound (like Batztoutai and Antimonument). Kunyan has one of my favorite loops in his discography, Loops in Flames is excellent, and the field recording work on Asyaga in Rain has a great atmosphere.

Honorable mentions to Om Electrique, Flesh Metal Orgasm, Marfan Syndrome, and Exotic Apple. Om Electrique is his first noise album. Marfan Syndrome is his first recording with EMS so it's also kind of a landmark. Exotic Apple feels kind of like a 90s Mechanization Takes Command (or a 90s Merzbeat for that matter).

I could go on....what we really need is an exhaustive 500-album vinyl shipping container.

Not to add more to the pile, but how could I forget Collection 008 and Collection 010? By far the best 2 releases from the Collection series and 2 of my favorite early 80s Merzbow albums. I believe Collection 008 contains the first obvious use of a tape loop in his discography, and the drum machine stuff here creates a unique atmosphere. Collection 010 builds on the same drum machine work + atmosphere, and I think E3 B2 + Ah Corps is a fantastic track in particular.
