Kosmiche Noise
Been listening to a lot of Haare lately - in particular the “Dimensional Ripper” tape by on Total Black and the “New Age of Death” and “Brain” CDs on Aussaat and the connection to early krautrock, kosmiche (and space rock) is very clear, in particular the first Cluster album, Klaus Schulze, Heldon, Ash Ra Tempel and Tangerine Dream. These just seem to nail the aesthetic perfectly - the CDs are killer and the cover art is absolutely beyond perfect.
Started thinking about similar themed “space” albums like the Forbidden Planet soundtrack and trying to make a mental list of noise associated stuff out there - real heavy on the deep drones, ring modulator and heavy synth work, and trying to steer clear of anything that remotely involves “blues jammin’” to keep this from being moved to the misc section - but I won’t be mad if it’s not harsh enough!
BT.HN. – Black Mirrors And Dark Planet Alignment, Pulse Emitter, the “Doctor Who Vs The Noise” CD (a personal favourite), Space Machine (my favourite Masonna associated stuff), a LOT of Bastard Noise stuff….
Other stuff more on the drone side of things is the recently reissued “RYN” discography (Astral Death was a huge CD for me), Zoat-Aon “Star Autopsy” CD, Sleep Research Facility’s Nostromo CD….
This is not even close to a comprehensive list. Lemme know your cosmic picks, old or new….

Re: Kosmiche Noise
For many years the most cosmic noise album for me was and remains "Cosmos Entropy – Unknown". Highly recommend.
Re: Kosmiche Noise
Neptune Towers deserves a mention. Old side project from Fenriz. Not very noisy, but very charming cosmic flavours!

Re: Kosmiche Noise
Incidentally Satatuhatta just released our new tape with VU, which I think is just what this thread is about. Pastoral mellotron melodies meets psychedelic noise & grinding industrial.
I'd love there to be more stuff that mixes harsh noise with kosmisch influences, and I mean like kosmische synthscapes and not just psychedelic noise. Zeit is one of my favourite albums.

Really enjoyed this from a quick bandcamp listen (through my phone). Will investigate more later! Really interesting.

i think we finally nailed the sound we're going for, kosmisch meets cold 80s style industrial noise. like nostromo flying thru a nebula, hah.

Noisteria Emission is by intent exactly what I think you are describing. It’s very inspired by cosmic psychedelic music, early electronic “sci-fi sounds” and noise. Everything is a free download except for one. Physical releases are mostly sold out.

I would include my most recent release "1100 dB" in this category, at least thematically. Very much inspired by the approach of early electronic soundtracks / sound effects, as well as Schulze / TD / Heldon etc. For me it's hard to say how much of that actually bleeds through into the sound, but reviews and feedback from colleagues seem to have picked up on this.

The b-side of this is excellent, some righteous acoustic-flavored heft really bringing it home.Residual / RT wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 7:33 am Incidentally Satatuhatta just released our new tape with VU, which I think is just what this thread is about. Re: Kosmiche Noise
2nd and 3rd tracks from Sunn O)))'s "White 2" are just about a perfect fit for this thread.
I was absolutely huge into a project called Bones of Seabirds that was active between 2008 - 2009, I think I have every release. Really excellent drone/psych noise stuff. I was huge into the Small Doses label and they had so much cool stuff coming out around this time.

Oh man, I ran a music blog around that time (as was the trend) and posted a Bones of Seabirds tape rip! Blast from the past, I really liked that project.holy ghost wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 9:29 am 2nd and 3rd tracks from Sunn O)))'s "White 2" are just about a perfect fit for this thread.

I went and pulled all my BoS stuff and was also happy to find almost everything is up on a bandcamp except the Nihanisyati tape. https://bonesofseabirds.bandcamp.com/

Re: Kosmiche Noise
Neptune Towers was some of the first records I got that wasn't guitar based music. Did not know how deep the noise rabbit hole went
