Halfway done listening to the Afterblast. Thanks Oscar for the follow ups. I think going back to previous guests is important because there will always be subjects you missed out on and am glad you did that. Interesting when you mention that if someone older says they don't have a lot of recent releases

Ha, our full conversation was nearly this long, just didn't have the tape running the entire time. Glad people are getting something out of this one!

Tommy has generously donated 2 copies of the TRERIKSRÖSET CS on Hatband in support of the WCN Podcast Patreon. This Friday July 15 at 18:00 CET, patrons at the level "Maniac's Circle" or above will see a post on Patreon for the giveaway. The first 2 people who comment "TRR" on the post will automatically win a copy of the tape. I'm also launching a WCN Discord server soon too, which should be fun.

I've enjoyed watching many of these and appreciate the longer format. The podcast was also where I heard about this forum, by the way!

Anyway, I will look into subscribing via Patreon when I have more time. I'm really out of the loop with that sort of stuff, so I don't know anything about it, like whether or not I have to view content through Patreon, where it's presumably hosted, but I'll figure it out this weekend.

I'm out of the loop with everything, frankly. But watching these has inspired me to work towards tying up some loose ends on an old project in order to move forward with recording and releasing again as time allows. They've been a good way to get my interest back up and get me out of my several-year rut, so thank you.

Out now: NOISE ON THE RUN - Questions: "Why Does Noise HAVE To Evolve?" and more

I'm on the run this week, so took the opportunity to do a solo episode answering some of the very interesting questions submitted from viewers/listeners, starting with "my top 5 noise releases of 2022. "

You don't watch WCN TV content "through" Patreon, but you access it through a link posted there. You'll see posts on Patreon based on your donation tier. Sounds bit complicated maybe but it's pretty straightforward.

Yeah, I looked into it this past weekend and got it figured out. Pretty straightforward indeed. But you must understand I am a total neanderthal. I only even begrudgingly got my first mobile/smartphone a little over a year ago as my current job all but requires owning one. New technologies frighten and confuse me!

Just got around to listening to this episode. When Scott mentioned that he's very shy around people he doesn't know, I felt appreciative that he powered through the interview. You can tell it was tough for him, so he deserves some praise for being courageous. It was interesting to hear him talk about 1) how selective he is with what material he releases and how much of it he discards if it isn't good enough, and 2) that his sound is ever-evolving almost uncontrollably. Cool interview.

I agree that it was a good episode overall, and insightful in its own ways. I'm surprised there isn't much followup talk from the usual commenters on this one. It's worth checking out and cool to get some era-specific gaps filled in from some of the more obscure, yet still relevant, participants.

Anyone else cry their eyes out a few times during Eddie's episode? That was the realest interview I've ever seen with anyone. Holy shit. As a recovering addict from NY who lost friends along the way, his words resonated with me so much. The only other noise interview to touch me like this, was Roman's with Richard. Great job, Oskar.

A massive and heartfelt interview. EJ clearly had a lot he needed to say. What I like most about a lot of these guys from "controversial" acts like EJ/Final Solution and Michael Nine/Death Squad is their genuine sincerity as humans. They're not just some people trying to be edgy, there is a deeper, different element to it. This was already quite apparent with the MK9 project as a whole, but became even more evident in the recent Death Squad book. I'm looking forward to the Hydra book that these two are working on, I'm sure it will be quite moving.

Michael Nine is one of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. It's kind of disarming when you meet him in person.

The EJ interview might be my favorite WCN episode so far. Hugely inspiring, heartfelt and fucking funny.

Really loved the Roemer episode!

It's not like it's necessary or expected but it was quite cool to hear him be explicit and frank about some of his views on the wider world whilst coming off like a real gent throughout. It's probably because I just got back from a festival but I found his sign off at the end quite moving. And shit yeah, you can't overestimate the value of being able to hear directly from such a font of noise passion and knowledge. Loved the little previews we got of newer work as well as the glimpses at his home. Great job from Oskar putting the questions together, knowing when to follow up or move on.

Mentioned this in the VIP room (aka the White Centipede Noise Discord channel for Patreon supporters - get in there!), but worth saying again: I appreciate how some of the guys from the old guard can dislike each other or refuse to work together, but still give credit where credit is due. Maybe that hasn't always been the case with Macro, but Joe giving Rodger his creative/production credits was nice to see. Another example is the Boyd Rice / Douglas P. / David Tibet triad, where they will always be respectful of each other's contributions, but have had very public and long-lasting falling outs. As user Disaster Sources mentioned when we were just talking about this in person: it's nice to see adults being adults. Something that, in this regard, seems to be lost on younger generations.

Forgot to post here beforehand, but no standard podcast episode this week. We had the monthly video party instead, which was great fun! I'll try to do it on a weekend next month, as some people have mentioned that's more fitting to their schedules.

Later this week, WCN TV is dropping its first batch of "Premium" content:

-Documentary of this past weekend's gig in Stockholm featuring ALFARMANIA, TRERIKSRÖSET, OCHU, HINGST and FEBERDRÖM organized by Johan of Ominous Recordings, featuring excerpts of the live performances, on-site interviews, and behind the scenes footage. Shot in 4K by Basia Napora.

-In-person interview with Love Rosenström of OCHU back stage before the show.

-In-person interview with Mats Alm of YOUNG HUSTLERS at an undisclosed location.

-Each performing artist's extended set.

This content will only be available to Maniac's Circle supporters of WCN Podcast.

Hi Oskar,

I just wanted to say thanks again for hosting the Zoom meetup on Monday. It's always great to hear from some of the OG's (especially Eddie & Andy). Really looking forward to seeing how the meetups progress in the future.

That being said, it feels like you may be getting a bit too liberal with paywall/premium content. There's a worldwide economic collapse in effect that's really starting to fuck things up, and it's kind of rough to not be able to afford access to what little conversation there is in our community as content gets added to progressively higher pay tiers. A monopolization of discourse, I guess.

I hope that doesn't seem too whiny/ungrateful! I still do appreciate the hell out of what you're doing with the podcast as a whole. Some of those interviews were outright revelatory (Romain, Pat Yankee, Worth, etc.).

The podcasts I can record at home will remain free for everyone to enjoy. They cost me money to produce (in equipment, platform and software fees) not to mention a full-time job's worth of hours each week, but I charge it to the game and am thankful that people want to watch, and that some recognize the work that goes into it and choose to support it financially.

When some content, like that which I produced this past weekend for example, requires me paying to fly myself and my girlfriend to another country (she operated the camera for the entire weekend), having her bring her expensive camera she makes monthly payments on, renting additional equipment, and both of us working hard the entire evening instead of relaxing and enjoying the show, I feel well within my rights to reserve that content to those who support the endeavor at a higher level. Things cost money to make, and in my perhaps controversial opinion, peoples' time and work should also be rewarded, because it costs money for everyone to live. People don't question paying hefty regular sums of money to large companies for streaming services, alcohol, cigarettes, eating out, etc., but quickly complain that the fees for supporting something truly independent are too high, even knowing the money will be going directly to support something you value. Instead of the money being a drop in the bucket for rich people to stay rich, it helps the creator of something you appreciate and may even consider revelatory cover basic production costs, and perhaps help them scrape by so they can dedicate more time to creating it.

Such "Premium" content is 100% optional. I don't think there is a lack of places for conversation - there are great forums like this one, there's instagram (which you are paying for with your data), live events, emailing someone, calling someone on the phone, sending a letter. Most importantly, there's nothing stopping anyone from taking the initiative and starting up their own free podcast, forum, group chat, concert, etc., if there's any concern about there not being enough out there - I too would love to see more of this. I personally feel that by producing weekly free episodes of WCN Podcast, I'm doing my share and can require payment to see certain stuff with a clean "underground ethics" conscience.

Thank you very much. I didn’t want to sound indignant, but it’s important to me that people understand what their support means. These are indeed tough times, and we’re all forced to do closer evaluation and prioritization of where our money goes, so I truly do appreciate anyone who supports in any way. Without you, WCN Podcast is not possible.
