Been playing the "new" Moth Drakula and the Network Glass & Jason Crumer discs on Misanthropic Agenda constantly. Both stunners and easily end up on best-of the year lists.

My current stack includes
ASM - Mission Hill 2001
Linekraft - Bankrupt of Morals
DSM III - Plague State
Masonna/Prurient - Annihilationism

ASM tape is awesome; structured, slownburn creeping noise; the DNA of later Skin Crime is definitely present in this, particularly on the B-side with it's long droney passages overlaid with piercing feedback.

Masonna/Prurient is top notch. I love the trade off style of the split, with each artist having 1 track that flows into the other artist. Feedback and heavy vocals from Dom and Masonna is...Masonna...psychedelic psycho noise.

here's a pile of cd:s I have listened to during the last few days:

Prurient - Frozen Niagara Falls
Kovana - Club Katharsis
Sielun Veljet - Hei Soturit 2022 Mix
Psychoplasma - Radio Flies
Throbbing Gristle - A Souvenir of Camber Sands
Edge of Decay - Vein of Metal
Dodheimsgard - Kronet Til Konge
Maurizio Bianchi - Technology 1&2
Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent
Jucifer - L'autrichienne
Coil presents Black Light District
Sick Seed - Power Play
CCCC - Gnosis
Stromstad - New Devoted Human
Bizarre Uproar - Mass/FF
But he was always more concerned with making his guitar sound like a dying horse, more than anything else.

Kazumoto Endo and Kaori Komura - Volume Two
Not sure why, but I think I like this even more than the first volume. Two live tracks, clocking in at just under a half hour a piece, very nicely recorded, the second in particular going pretty hard at interval with the trad Komura percussion which, as elsewhere stated, is what makes this shit particularly HARSH. I mean, don't think I'd be too out of line in tacking this to the JUNK METAL ABUSE topic, except the metal, at least, ain't no junk, nor would we want to suggest that it is being abused per se, more loved long time. Long and harrrd.

The untitled Treriksröset CD as well as the Treriksröset/Sewer Election "Killing For Germany" have been played every day for the last week. Still growing on me.

Also pulled out some Dead Body Love. Never gets old.

The album turned 31 on saturday so it had to be played. One of my alltime favourites ever. To me this is peak-Entombed.

Kate Rissiek - Decayed Signals LP (Virtues, 2022)
Incredibly dense and heavy from the get-go. Forces you into some kind of state for a time before fracturing with piercing frequencies. Big winner!

Tinnitustimulus - Scrinj Maas CS (Monorail Trespassing, 2022)
Bennett tapping the 90s Merzbow vein with energetic harsh assemblages of shrieks and whoops and ringing whirls crashing for magnetic tape.

Taint - Recycled (RRR)
Got it from Sentimental Youth and played it for the first time yesterday. A side is a mix of feedback, some out of control synths, some special interest adult-entertainment samples and some vocals. One long track. Side B is another long single track, but this time it is more tape-loops, sounds of sawing something, a lot of more "organic" and "in the room" noise. Both tracks have a collage-feel to them and a very good flow. What really takes it away is the sound. It's murky, filthy, saturated, with strong mids but not too much definition in the highs. I really love that. Makes the material sound even more obscure. The WCN podcast episode with Roemer came to mind, where he talked about recording deep in the red and the effects of tape saturation. Excellent tape.

Magnus Jäverling - Bowdark LP (Discreet Music, 2022)

While the release description noting that Jäverling operates in the same realm as Fabio Frizzi and (especially) John Carpenter is highly apt, this album also at times has thinking "What if Tangerine Dream had scored To Live and Die in LA?"

Merzbow - Animal Liberation (Until Every Cage Is Empty)
Loving the title and artwork so it was a quick process to decide to order the new Merzbow album. Five tracks, clocking in at about 50 minutes total. Tracks are kind of similar, with a rumbling, darker layer in the background. Mostly made from synth-loops or maybe even some "musical"-loops. The dark stomping sounds evoke some pictures of slaughterhouses, so the maybe that was the intention? At least they provide a somehow structured foundation to add some higher-frequency layers on top. Distorted electronics and feedback, fed into a filter for movement and dynamics. In some tracks there seems to be some sheet-metal work too. Listened to it a couple of times during the weekend and I still enjoy it a lot.

The Rita - Her Shell, The Chute (Absurd Exposition)

This tape is a high point for me within the more recent The Rita output. There's more movement present on this tape than some of the other straight geiger-counter style crackling featured on others and there's a shifting velocity of this sound throughout the release which makes it difficult to find sure footing. It really throws the pattern-seeking brain for a loop. At times there's a subtle pin-pricking high tone that steadily punches through the rolling cracks and crevices. Almost like the wind piercing the ears of a skier who has misjudged a turn and whose fate now rests in the hands of the mountain, rolling down the side.

HÖH/Violent Shogun - Untitled (Narcolepsia)
My first encounter with both projects. A-side has some beautiful lo-fi tape-loops and in-between-stations-radio. Very organic flow and a wonderful oldschool, murky sound. B-side sounds a little more refined and "musical", while A-side had a more collage-like character. B-side even features some almost hi-fi sounding synth drones. Some tracks feature loops with speech samples and some classic music in the background, which gives them a little martial/industrial touch. Unfortunately I cannot compare the tape to any other material of those projects or even make out who contributed which elements. Nevertheless enjoyed it very much and played it a couple of times back to back.

A little addendum: there seems to have been no mastering or only light compression in post production. Tape levels are rather low, but there are some great dynamics to be found. Compliment on that.
