Introduce yourself
Re: Introduce yourself
Hi! Mike, 40's, CT. I do noise under the name Mangrum, as well as a small, currently hibernating label called Daint Recordings. Been lurking for months and just now putting a ring on it. I also play double bass in mostly free improvisation settings. Huge fan/listener of many who post here. Cheers!

HI, I'm Leif currently living in Detroit and making PE/Noise under the project CONDEMN.
I'm got a few self released tapes, a 7" lathe and this year a release coming out on Deathbed Tapes, I'm really excited about.

Responding rather late, but it's always nice to run into another trans person in noise circles. :3FrenziedDestruction wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 10:10 pm Hey!
i have a queer noise/powerelectronics project called Frenzied Destruction :)
i first got into noise in the early 2000s from a grindcore / crust background and had my first tape released by the french label underground pollution in 2007 - there were other digital releases that disappeared into the ether. this is one of the reasons physical releases are so important to me from a preservation stand point! i was able to hunt down mine on discogs actually haha. from about 2008-2020ish i was on a "brief hiatus" while i came out as trans and wrestled with chemical dependency etc.
i went through a lot of hard things then and again in more recent years but i kept getting up! i now have my first full length tape release available! Exciting!
you can hear my noise here: https://frenzieddestruction.bandcamp.com
Also, really digging the visual aesthetic on these releases.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi. I’m William Rage. Been around involved for over 30+ years, from bands and label operations to gig and awesome festival organizing to 5 years as the head lighting director for a mid-sized music venue in San Francisco. With my wife, we owned a record store for a short while here in Seattle, had a whole bunch of bands play there and hosted monthly art shows. I’ve made loads of ‘zines and flyers and read loads more ‘zines and collected flyers for years (last year, I donated all my punk flyers to the Punk Museum in Las Vegas). 52 times around the sun, living in Seattle now for nigh on 20 years. What a ride it’s been and I’m a mess.

Hello, I am Natalia from Vancouver, Canada. Industrial is my main interest and focus but I listen to all sorts of experimental and noise-adjacent music. I come from a punk background originally, I've played in crust and metal bands for years as a drummer. I'm a fetishist for metal-on-metal sounds in all forms specifically. Currently working on a Scrap Metal Archive, which aims to collect artists who utilize scrap metal in music, everything from metal percussion to junk metal harsh noise.
I also make industrial music, focused on metal-on-metal noises; I had a tape released on Phage last year: https://phagetapes.bandcamp.com/album/to-elsewhere

But he was always more concerned with making his guitar sound like a dying horse, more than anything else.

Hi all. My name is Caspar Sonnet. I live in Portland, Oregon. I primarily use tape, lap steel, and percussion when making/recording sounds. I also run a small DIY cassette label (ANDROMACHE) that showcases artists near and afar, who specializes in free improv and noise (HNW, field recording, musique concrète, etc) I also host a performance series called Discordance which I conduct at a local church here in Portland, OR. Been a good time! My favorite show I did was hosting Jeph Jerman, fall of '22. ANYWAY, Doing my best to be respectful to the craft and to those who make it. Learning a lot. Thank you for all the noise.

Hey y'all!
My name's Raul Starcz, I'm 25, from Romania. I've started listening to noise around 2018 and put out my first release as Bosses Hang in 2019. Since then, I've been trying to listen and discover as much as possible about noise, music, artists, techniques, gear, labels, you name it. I've been fortunate enough to have the trust on some absolutely amazing labels and artists with whom I've worked so far and if you're around here, I wanna thank you once again!
I'm currently active under the name Thorn Bug, but my first project, Bosses Hang, it's still not done yet either.
Nice to meet everyone!

Re: Introduce yourself
Hey everyone, my name is bob marinelli. I'm located in PA, USA. I hear we have a good scene in the Pittsburgh area, but I'm about 4 hours away so I haven't been yet. still, if Macro Joe and Richard Ramirez are still at it, plus Henry Mallard, I'd give that scene a thumbs up.
I did a bunch of stuff in the late 90's, eventually killing my recording gear. that was kinda sad, but it lived a full life! after that, I didn't transition to digital recording. instead I just focused on playing the drums. banging away on stuff is great fun.
I just started making and listening to noise again after what feels like a lifetime. I've found the WNC and Noisextra podcasts, and now I'm kindof doing an inventory seeing who is still kicking around and who might have come into the scene to take the place of the old guard.
it looks like I have some reading available, there are plenty of threads on the board!
anyway, that's my introduction. looks like I get to hold the title of "new guy" for a moment, although I'm hardly "new" anymore, lol. anyway, Cheers!

Re: Introduce yourself
Welcome, Bob! And to all other recent members. Nice to see an influx of new signups this week. I'm assuming this is thanks to the recent forum discussion on the WCN podcast episode with Luke Tandy, but I'd be curious to know if there are people finding this board via other means.

Hi everyone. I’m Thomas. I’m 39 and I live in Hamilton, ON, Canada. I do noise as Death Glaze, and ambient stuff as Dreʌms Cvlt. I’ve been lurking around here for a bit, and thought that it was high time I finally participate.
