RRRecycled Tapes

Perhaps one of the most accessible entry points into noise for curious newcomers, the RRRECYCLED series has remained a mainstay in my regular noise listening for the better part of 5 years now. There are so many rippers, so many duds and so many strange oddities are mixed within this series that I felt like it was time to finally create a thread for these tapes.

So -- which are your favorites? Which are smaller names that deserve more love? And how many of yours have been dubbed with the incorrect tape length by RRRon? Any and all discussion of RRRECYCLED is welcome here.

I love the K2 one. Mine seems to be a shorter version than others, but it’s really great regardless.

I love The Gerogerigegege recycled tape. I know it's not official anymore, but still.

Much like Cementimental in general.

Agree on the K2 tape. Fantastic. Really any of the 'ron+minutoli+the artist's record/s' are big winners in my book. The Haters one is extremely special and in some ways is the most pertinently Haters sounding thing I've heard in their whole catalogue. Destroyed sound destroyed even further. I maybe have made this claim elsewhere here, can't remember.

I picked up the recycled tapes from Bastard Noise and John Wiese some time in the early aughts. This was at the very beginning of my listening, I can hardly remember the circumstances but BN’s RRREVENGE (which was a diss track, I guess) was a sea change in my listening when it came into the radio station where I was music director and led to my contacting JW and subsequently Troniks and Ground Fault started sending things to the radio station, some of it even charting. Then I hit the distros and those rrrevycled tapes I suspect I actually ordered from Self Abuse though my memory fails me. I have a fond memory of my friend the synthesizer aesthete the Squid and local noise-folk provocateur B-rad borrowing my copy of Bastard Noise’s rrrecycled music to blast full volume from the Squid’s baja rat - or whatever his little el camino variation was - to cruise fraternity row and disrupt with shock and awe. I would hope Claremont’s finest would appreciate. This is Moscow, Idaho circa 2003.

The SICKNESS & VIODRE tapes are 2 of my favorites. BLJ one is a good listen too. I swear I have an INHALANT rrrecycled tape that I remember being very good, but I just looked and can't find it listed in his discography. Maybe it's just a one-off tape he sent me. I recommend the IMMACULATE:GROTESQUE one too. Great series, especially the longer, lingering tapes with no real direction or structure to them.

The new tape by Modelbau is essential.
