Doug from Hellnation, Praparation-H, Brody's Militia, Erectile Dementia, Funerary Box, Spastic Amoebas, etc did it. He actually went to a major noisecore show at St. Vitus, rather than MDF one year, because the lineup was too good to pass up. Some of the notable acts were Deche-Charge, Spacegrinder (Japan) w/sax player(!!!), FINAL EXIT, and Sedem Minut Stratchu. Can't remember who else... maybe Cunts or Napalm Death is Dead???

The Spacegrinder set he witnessed

Cunts played the show the night before in Baltimore, which Doug was also at. That saxophone player is Nonoko Yoshida, who has been involved in a lot of noise-adjacent projects. She had just played some avant-garde fest on the East Coast and joined up with the tour in Syracuse. Spacegrinder is a weird guy. The first time I can remember being scared at a show was also the first time I saw him play in 2006. He started setting up in the middle of this big room and the friends I was with pulled me up on stage, saying “I’ve seen him before; I know what’s going to happen”. Spacegrinder proceeded to shut off the lights, turn on a strobe light, and turn on prerecorded noise immediately before chucking a mic stand stand like a spear straight into the crowd. He spent the next few minutes charging people, playing tug of war, and screaming into a bundle of microphones. When the lights came back on he was bleeding from his finger-and-toenails.

Oh hell yeah, NOISECORE.

I don't think that we can have a noisecore thread without discussing some kings in the modern era- SEVEN CASO & JACKSON KOVALCHIK

Scab Addict, Stink Meat, Idiopathic Uveitis, COAGULATIVE NECROSIS (gorenoise is welcome here). What killers.

I really like the Farmer Maggot tape Seven did a couple years ago. Noisecore made tight snare covered in waves of vocals and distortion with rare bits of guitar solos.

The Rhthymicshit ‘Live at Trigger Vol. 2’ tape Deathbed just released arrived yesterday and I instantly put it on. Total Gero-worship that doesn’t quite work for me, but I’m sure plenty of people will enjoy.

Scab Addict fucks. I just remembered the existence of Yuretuzukeru while browsing my cassette shelves, I have a split with Sedem Minut Strachu by them that's very nice. Vox + drums noisecore from Tokyo.

Scab Addict fucking rule. Them and World are probably the biggest influences on my own noisecore band, Chromatic Bastards.

Noisecore Tape is a regular play for me! Great work on that one.

Noijzu's El Bien de Ser is an excellent tape that I don't see talked about much. Also a big fan of Jazkamer's Gero-aping Art Breaker. And Chlorgeschlecht's Unyoga is an unsung masterpiece, though it's more on the glitchy cut-up side of things.

My personal noisecore history; started Anti-Laituri in 1988, two demos only a few people heard. Late 90's Atari Satan, one demo, and then in the early 00's Tuho, one cdr, later reissued on tape by Kaz Records. As I'm now 50, I'm naturally still in a noisecore band :) :

And this is not noisecore, but aping the Finnish classic 82-style:

I think that a dedicated comment to Charlie Mumma's excellent Sewer System/Systemic Sewage project should be made here. The CDr he did on Prose Nagge is absolutely stellar in its approach to the noisecore format.

Did not realize that was him at first when he gave me the split with Systemic Sewage. It's way more raw, gross, etc.; almost unbearable at points! That's saying something, considering what is being discussed in this thread.

The best Gerogerigegege 7" is All You Need Is Audio Shock. Senzuri Monkey Metal Action sounds like it could have been a live recording of an Audio Shock live show or something.

What's so great about Gero is that every release is different, and have their own distinct type of noise production. Take for example Yasukuni Ninja - I can't even fathom what Juntaro did on that. I assume he was in charge for the recording for most of his output, but if not, he still picked really fucking good engineers. Therein lies his strength.

Told myself I'd start making an effort to post on here more in the coming year, and have to thank this comment for spurring me on.

The Sewer System tape on Angst from last year (or the year before? I can't remember) has proved to be, point blank, one of my absolute favourite releases in recent memory. "Noisecore" not usually my thing, but man oh man did this tape ever click for me. Absolutely masterful stuff. Wasn't aware of the CDr on PN and will definitely have to track a copy down ASAP.

Have not heard that Angst tape! That label caught my attention just as some of the releases I would have liked to hear were gone. Wonder if anyone is doing some uploads of that stuff on YouTube.
