Yeah. I wish there were more than a dozen people in there, but it'll happen

Wait, I'm confused... It's a discord named after Peter Sotos?

There is a "Sotos-centered" Discord, but it is essentially inactive.

Tyler from Australia. Found out about this place from sotoscord. Love noise and power electronics as well as extreme literature and cinema.

Welcome! What books have you been reading recently?

JM/Polecat, 30, Philadelphia. I make something approaching power electronics as Subaltern, although not much has appeared yet because I take forever to work on things; past projects include Silence and Secrecy (depressive noisy microtonal synthpop) and Fever Carpets (knockoff :zoviet*france: sound collage).

Pigswill mentioned this place and I eventually got curious. A lot of folks here whose work I respect immensely. It's a bit intimidating, but I'll live.

I have not gotten into Artaud yet, but I will probably kick myself in the next few years for not picking up those books when they were released!

Hello. I am writing from Turkey. I have a boutique business called Vaykorus Tapes where I release cassettes in different genres. I released 50 different albums in a short time. Recently I collaborated with Maurizio Bianchi and he recorded a cassette tape from 1980-1983 in which the harsh sounds were incredible, in a limited edition.
I published. I have a music blog I started 15 years ago: ychorus.blogspot.com
I am 40 years old and excited to be here. Greetings from Turkey.

oh hi. just here to express my views on noise, and read likewise. apologies if I post too much or do not seem serious enough (which I guess was the issue on troniks) or just ignorant (I am not all that noise oriented rn). good luck with it -- clemon

With one word; very humble, very helpful, very patient, very understanding and a great friend. It was really, really special for me to do something about my favorite musician and release his tape. We will have a new collaboration soon. I am excited. Thanks for your interest.

Manitoba, Canada

Have listened to HN/PE/industrial et al. since ~2010. Am a bit of a wallflower in that I am geographically displaced from participating in a noise scene and I don’t really keep in contact with people “in the scene” outside of placing orders.

Have followed boards like these (Pure Stench, SI, etc.) as a lurker since I became interested in noise, but have never actively participated in discussion.

Hope to change that, but remains to be seen.

Hi
Kenneth from Helsinki / Finland.
I make noise and perform under the name BRYSKT since 2020
and dark ambient under the name [ówt krì] since 2005

I am also doing no-input noise demos on the BRYSKT youtube channel.

I'm Sami, 37 yrs old, from Tampere, Finland. I was subjected to harsh noise already back in my teens, seeing a few shows during the years etc, but it was as late as last year that it really "got me", or I "got it", dunno. Anyway, been pretty much obsessed with all-things-noise since. Lurking around and absorbing info (cheers for the good talks everyone!) since this board started, I thought it's the time to register. Hello!

Jon, 33. People know me mostly from Noiseguide, Music Stinks and more recently the Noisewiki forums, or else as an obnoxious and generally unpopular presence on the Troniks and MO forums and a complete fish out of water on I Hate Music.

Before Noiseguide, I used to spend a lot of time on the Intelligent Machinery forums, which was focused more on dark ambient, experimental electronics and circuit bending than noise.

I'd been making crude electronic music with a PC and Seth Putnam-inspired freeform bullshit bedroom music since the early 2000's, but did not start making "intentional noise" (starting out with mediocre dark ambient/minimalist industrial Premature Ejaculation imitations at first) until 2005. It wasn't until hearing Xome for the first time that I went all the way with exploring pure, abstract harsh noise not long after.

I haven't released anything recently, though I have intentions to do so again sooner or later. The most I do now is to record tidbits of different things that sometimes get sent to a friend online from way back in the Noiseguide days for use in their own work.

Howdy from Texas!
Nathan Golub here, 38, from Dallas, TX. Mostly known for my projects Ascites and The Godless Girl that I did with my wife Randa and others. Active member of Black Leather Jesus since 2010. Took a hiatus for some years to focus on my career, but started getting back into to buying releases and making noise again just recently. I have a new project Total Sweetheart that I started last year with Ryan Jones (Struggle Session) after he moved to TX. We have numerous releases forthcoming on various labels. Happy to be back in the mix with the other noise maniacs. Cheers, y'all.
