Re: Now Playing
First mail day of 2023 was the three immortal Mania tapes, excellently packaged and dubbed VERY loud, highly recommended. Also have heard some other releases mentioned on 2022 year end lists, and I'm going to try to listen through my collection this year. Since the 1st I've been playing:
Mania - If They Move... Kill 'Em (one of my favorite release titles)
Mania - Miserable Disposition
Mania - Eros + Massacre
Capers - Slowest Death
Blind Date - Thank You
Sickness - Mudlark
Baculum - Coping With Tragic Contingencies (double cassette for the 2020 HNW Tape Swap)
Organ of Corti - Incus / Malleus
Treriksröset - Untitled (White Centipede Noise CD reissue)

Re: Now Playing
Red Gnein Sextet - The Outer Worlds (1995, Banned)
Spaced-out electronics & junk worship from a flagship artist of Tanatalus Recording Group.
Total - Hard + Low (1986, Broken Flag)
One of the quintessential Broken Flag releases in my opinion. Utterly bleak, disparate death industrial and collage work. I’ve heard this tape a dozen times and I’m still surprised by some of its stylistic turns.
Desire - Madame Vault (1996, Psychotic Release)
Italian gothic industrial. Thumping shit with very European vocals. Found about this project from their BV Tapes release, this does not disappoint.
Clank - Beta (1987, Sound Of Pig)
Jazz & kitchen sink improvisation on SOP. Similar to If, Bwana releases of the period but Al isn’t actually on this thing at all. These guys were also members of Blubber alongside Amy Denio, Eric Muhs, and many others.

Re: Now Playing
trying to post a little more and start writing reviews so here's one even if it's a quickie:
Gnawing Teeth / Fraktion FX86 (Mima Kass, 2022)
GT's side is a very lofi recording of a very good 40 minute jam that has a diverse range of what seems like a radio, oscillator, turntable and pedals coming together to create a grinding, screeching industrial waste clashing against. An ebb and flow is at play here to captivate your attention through the 2/3rds of an hour, a chunk of time spent.
Fraktion FX86 was originally behind Guttural Strap-on which Weak Will c/o Worth on the other forum hyped as being "ambient Macronympha" and that approach here is more of a ambient take on wall noise with a little pinch of drone. Over the course of two tracks, they each bloom and decay in a crawling and slow fashion that is mind numbing and sanding to flayed and burnt-out nerves. Not really like most stuff coming out on Bandcamp.
Really wish this was pressed more than 10 copies and this label took the time to make more copies and have some proper distribution - I was lucky to get the split through the artist based in the USA which was his only copy in a trade!

Oil of Beauty - System Voltages (Chondritic Sound)
One of the many aliases of John Olson. This one is all about metal clanging & mixer feedback. John is a master of the latter, in my opinion. This tape shows it off in full effect.
Infibulation - Live Rehearsal (self-released)
Zach Vogle of Maggot Vomit Afterbirth, Morgue Tar & many other gory projects in Texas comes through with some nasty harsh noise; one of my favorite recent discoveries. The sounds here range from sickening and shrill harsh to bleak drones and crunchy lows.
I am very excited to be working on a split now with Zach after spinning this one again.

One other on American Tapes, and that's it. Of course if you are looking for a harsher Olson fix, Daylight Savings Time T.X. is a great project.

Re: Now Playing
Not sure what you're asking, but it's the first release from this year that I can see making my top-whatever year-end list. Could be my AOTY. Not sure I see any new releases beating it. Their damaged beyond repair psychedelic noise is in full effect and the album is like an arch. The approach on the first and last tracks are perfect bookends for what goes on in the rest of it.Joie de la Blumpy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 9:00 amNeed this yesterday. Proof Of The Shooting - Demonstrative Evidence
4 CDs full of varied '90s noise. Sometimes harsh, sometimes pretty spacious, but always interesting. I was not familiar with the project at all but I am glad I got this one. Plenty to explore here!
Rotat - Infidel Gastronomy
Harsh noise is the name of the game! Nothing more, nothing less. With a quirky tongue-in-cheek twist but not goofy. Yet another solid album from this Finnish gentleman.
Circle Of Shit - Almost There Now
I have not always been that impressed with CoS but this one is great! Kind of atmospheric industrial but on the noisier side.
Amek-Maj - Amek-Maj
Brand new CD release! I was expecting harsh noise but got something entirely different. And I was not disappointed! This is "narrative noise" that brings to mind some sort of hybrid of Jason Crumer and Altar Of Flies. Excellent!

I have had a tab open to OR since last week. I'm planning to get this and some other stuff from them once I get paid on Friday. Looking forward to listening to it in the near future. Need to get lost in some of that good Incapacitants "heavy flow" after a crap work week, haha.

Right on, that's the stuff, way to stoke the fire. Was curious after seeing Mikawa tweet up quite the storm a couple days ago, delivering nuggets on each and every title gracing the album. Got me thinking maybe this'd be one of the good'uns.xIncorruptibleCorpse777x wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 4:49 pmNot sure what you're asking, but it's the first release from this year that I can see making my top-whatever year-end list. NBDY - Wood & Wires
a fast, sharp and stuttering electronic barrage. precision cut up met with more-than-a-moments-worth of total stillness. just the right length at just under 37 minutes. a master of the craft and a lovely addition to the oxen roster.
