Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad, but it doesn’t reach the heights other milestones in his catalogue have. After listening to it the first time, I spent an entire day listening to every Sewer Election and related recording I have at my disposal, and then played it again, and I just don’t see it as being leaps and bounds better than many of the cassettes and records he’s done. I’ll give it another chance tomorrow since everyone has been speaking so highly of it.

Psychic Panorama on the other hand i’ve played probably 20 times already and am completely obsessed with
For me its the inclusion of the classic "murk" with a sharp, clearer, more acoustic percussive noisy element that was really hitting
Followed up with Psychic Panorama and Antarktis last night, and Kassettmusik at work today before returning to Skärvor Av when I arrived home. I can see how the A-side would fall in with other parts of the SE discography, but the B-side is what elevates it for me. Some phrasing that reminds me of MNEM's Elyktrion record. Overall I do like this more than Kassettmusik and it might be a bit of apples and oranges if comparing it to Psychic Panorama. Rather than compare I'd sale it files quite nicely between Psychic Panorama and Antarktis, and maybe closer to my sweet spot than either of the two.

Been putting all my tapes and vinyl and CDs onto my computer so I can listen with just my phone and speakers or in my car. This is what I’m bumping tonight!

RLW - 14 Recordings from 1980-1993 CD
Selektion 1993

reworkings of P16.D4 tapes and material. A bit quieter and more spacious than most P16.D4 stuff, but also with a lot of quick cuts and loud blasts. Veers off into zany territory at times, but not to the point of circus. Artwork by Rudolf Eb.er, really nice packaging with an individual insert per track.

edit: I take it back, the 10th track is literal circus music

Newest BARSTOOL MOUNTAIN tape: amazing harsh textures. Perfect.

WILL OVER MATTER "Visio Ja Toteutus" tape: I remember this came out a bit before FA began refusing WOM material because they didn't find it good enough. This tape is OK but I can see why FA would think that. Here we get really minimalistic loops or oscillations with barely any evolution and it's really long. They sound nice as background music but not more.

STEFKÂ'S VOMIT "Stefka Lost Her Virginity" tape. Some of you guys may know CUNTS, the Japanese drums+vocals duo that plays noisecore. This is the same thing, except it comes from Slovenia and the tape is from 1997. There's both live and rehearsal material on the tape, but the playing is terrible anyway, proper caveman drums bashing that isn't even fast and songs with real lyrics. That makes for an incredible musical disaster.

V/A "JUURIMUSIIKKIA TEKNOLOGIAN JÄTTÖMAILTA" tape. 4 obscure Finnish noise/industrial projects making killer stuff. I love that one.

I've also been listening to tons of MOSS HARVEST and ALBERICH online.

curious to hear this, as I understand some of the P16.D4 records used sound sources provided by other people to begin with. seems a lot of wehowsky's work is like this, really pushing limits of "authorship"

Saw BSBC at the Victoria Noisefest in 2006, and I can definitely cite it as a huge influence on me. Just the overall immensity/approach they had live. Thank you Taylor for this one!

I'm really trying to recall if I actually saw them at the last Vancouver Noise Fest that happened before I moved, or if they played the following year and I only saw footage and it was so memorable that I felt like I was there? I didn't have a hell of a lot of involvement in the former as I'd already moved back to the valley before the big move across the country. Dried Up Corpse at the 2013 fest was killer though.

My sentiments in three plus one. Still trying to tease the essence from the broader body of work, but that will probably require a few more drinks plus strategic disconnecting of the internets.

Today's procrastination aids. Clockwise from left,

What A Smell / Hentaitenno split
Very brief words posted to the Forgotten noises thread. I like this one because it resembles a hundred other dodgy-ass tapes I copped at one or another random brick n mortar shop at some point.

Sitting next to it a tape that had been in the casing for ages, for fairly obvious reasons, but turns out to have been some sort of enka probably from an ex's dad or something, ha.

Below that a tape with absolutely no markings, shell or case, that I however know without question to be a pre-GROSS version of Thirdorgan's Cyclotron (below + left), aka before Nakajima molested it into something divine (if less brutal). Legit? Couldn't care less. Also dubbed onto metal cassette, absolutely blistering shriek end to end.

Look, I had expectations, but this is fire.

Look, I will not say this is perfect, but there are moments when I simply shit myself.

X marks the spot.

I was always partial to Bring It! and there’s a nostalgic part of me that would still say it’s a good record.

I totally appreciate the honest playlist. I don't ever mention the non-noise-related things I listen to but I probably should considering they represent a good half of what I listen to in general (at least.)

Remi, thank you. I don't think even the majority of noiseheads listen exclusively to noise.

S & W, I couldn't get into Bring It!, but I've always liked WODTS. Did you know they're back?!??
