It's great seeing the love for Beggin' For Oxys. Toronto has a rich grind/noisecore scene and BFO are definitely top tier. Never the same thing twice.

Here's a video of Sulfuric Cautery playing in my old living room.

There's alot that I don't miss about living in Toronto, though the grind/noisecore/outsider scene is amazing and very supportive. Acid Shower too is worth mentioning.

My pals from back in the day were in a great grindcore band called Poser Disposer. For fans of Nasum, Phobia, Disrupt. They toured with Dr. Know, Mass Grave, and did a few dates with Cattle Decapitation, too. Still very easy to find their records. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiDSn7PXISk

This crew played a fantastic gig with Skourge last week at Rhizome DC after Brain Tourniquet had to drop. Frenetic, tight, and totally crushing grindcore. We lost a window to the madness because folks were dancing so hard!

The whole DC grind/PV scene is really strong at the moment, and it's been great to see it thriving again.

Saw them way back in Victoria in maybe 2006? Played with them as well on the next time they came through. Super tight band.

Jenny Piccolo were one of the best and definitely brought a new style to powerviolence. Of course the classics like Crossed Out, Infest, Neanderthal ect. are still great. Yacöpsae also rule. They tend to go more into grind at some points.
Some more recent pv bands I enjoy would be

Foiled : https://foiledslop.bandcamp.com/album/piss-shank-demo (Ques from Wet Dream Asphyxiation. This has very heavy Noise parts. Unfortunately defunct now)

Internal : https://internalhc.bandcamp.com

Healer : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM-ou2ZKP8Y

Water Torture : https://nervealtar.bandcamp.com/album/pillbox

Sex Prisoner : https://sexprisoner.bandcamp.com (Also not around anymore, I think)

The one to rule them all though is Spazz
Misere
Nichts Bleibt

Always loved their side on the Cry Now Cry Later vol 3 2x7.
Anyone know what happened to that Crom documentary? Also what about that "Power Violence Project" documentary that was being made a few years back, did it get shelved?

Was the Crom documentary perhaps just tongue-in-cheek? I remember the trailer but I don't know if it was ever actually a real thing that was going to happen (I'd like it to be).

PVP is still happening as far as I know, but they were flying all over the US doing in-person interviews so the pandemic threw a wrench in those gears I'm sure.

I went looking for that Crom CD this morning while trying to find a few other titles, seems it’s somehow escaped my collection somehow over the years. Looked at used prices and holy shit!!

Went on a real Melt Banana tear this morning. I lost interest when it was just the guitar/vocals combo thing but when they were a foursome man were they a good band.

Recently, listening a lot of Agathocles, and also other mincecore bands but mainly Agathocles. I think AGx is pretty well known for most people, if anyone likes them, which releases would you recommend from them? besides the more well known of them such as: Black Clouds Determinate, If This Is Gore, What's Meat Then?, Bomb Brussels, Theatric Symbolisation of Life, Until It Bleeds Again Compilation, etc. with that massive discography is hard to tell what is worth checking out, any splits recommendations? which new releases are good?

I really like the “Death to Capitalist Noisecore” 7” from 2017 but if I’m gonna spin the AGX I’ll probably just throw on “If This Is Gore” collection.

I recall enjoying their side of the Excruciating Terror split, however hard to spin that one with a major heavyweight like ExTx on the flipside.

I also don’t know if I’ve ever spun their side of the Sissy Spacek/Agathocles but those two on a record plus the Typhus art is a killer record.

Personally when it comes to the kings of the split 7” I always preferred Cripple Bastards….

Why not? any reason behind it? the massive discography is a turn off? I've read from some people that they won't give them a chance or try to listening anything new because they don't know where to start, and they rather pass haha. Thanks for the recommendation Taylor, I actually haven't listened to The Peel Sessions, did the other day and I really enjoyed it.
