very, very, very criminally underrated and unknown! One of the most impressing experiences every time I listen through it. Also the documentary is good, I bought it in Vimeo years back but I am not sure if it still exists there. Might want to check!

Been thinking about this recently, so off the top of my head if I had to pick a top 5 I’d go with this:
Ramleh - Hole In The Heart
Vasculae - In Theory
Ligature - Paradise
Constrictions - Zero Discrimination
Purging Light - Endlessness Of Desire

I have been thinking about this subject too much since I watched the latest WCN episode and have been having an existential crisis and felt under educated, hah. But here are some, maybe this helps:

The Gerogerigegege - Tokyo Anal Dynamite.
It's hard to pick one from them because all of them are pure genius works, but this might be the best. So much fun! It's just not best noise album, it's best rock'n'roll album too.

Throbbing Gristle - DOA
Not very noisy at any point but the pure randomness of it has inspired me a lot. Same goes with Journey Through The Body.

Swans - Public Castration Is A Good Idea
For nostalgic reasons. Since first hearing this I have found maybe better live recordings from 1986 tours of Swans but the total loudness of this is still impressive.

Einsturzende Neubauten - Kollaps
This one goes too back to where I started to get into all things noisy. This started for me the idea that anything can be used in making of music. The whole cliche.

What else? best/fucking great
Incapacitants - as loud as possible
Whitehouse - birthdeath experience
Mörder Machine - happy birthdeath
Hijokaidan - romance
Bizarre Uproar - dekadenz
Nihilist Spasm Band - no record
Vomir - social distancing
The Rita - thousands of dead gods
MAAAA - sampo distortion
Scopophilia - violent for being sexually desired
Kovana - fluids of chimera
.......
But he was always more concerned with making his guitar sound like a dying horse, more than anything else.

I hovered over this on mine and to be fair, it would probably be on there pending a few more listens but I have only given the big batch I got from Vanilla a single spin since obtaining it in 2020...

Incredible record! I was played it on my first tour doing noise I think, it came out around that time. Another record that nails the noise-with-vocals but not PE thing that I love so much that I mentioned in the Now Playing thread when I went off on one about how great Oscillating Innards is.

I've thought about this for a few months now after having a discussion with a friend, and my top-5 (at this point in time) noise + adjacent releases would be:

- Speculum Fight - White Elephant: Monolithic, cascading walls of shimmering drone/noise.

- Chop Shop - Scraps: Metallic, static noise blasts from strange speaker installations. Huge emphasis on room tone. Industrial in the truest sense.

- The Haters - Rot 7": One of the earliest noise recordings I heard. Calamitous destruction from every angle. A-side "Rubbish Often Tears" is as good as sound gets.

- Hands To - Artiment: Two c60's filled with some of the strangest, most satisfying sounds ever recorded. Possibly the best embodiment of Jeph's work. See also: Eurean Recant for an equally great tape.

- James Ferraro - Jarvid 9: Flushpipe: Controversial choice perhaps, but this double-CDr is the end of terrestrial music. Every second completely overloaded with complex, beautiful melodies, freeform synth solos, and sounds that seem too on-the-nose yet abstract to exist all buried under the haziest fidelities imaginable. Impossible, endless, infinite music.

This is my kinda list! De-collage is probably not noise in the strict sense (not that it matters), but it is one of the best WTF artist non-music etc. records I've ever heard. Agog is a favorite as well, love everything I've heard by him.

Yeah, Agog is so so good. His sound kind of hits the bullseye for me, combining a lot of my favorite aspects of ‘80s and ‘90s noise and tape music. It would be nice to see some kind of box set of his hard to find cassette releases, I know there’s a lot I haven’t heard.

I was actually introduced to Agog via one of your playlists a few years back, so hey thanks!
