This is the official live recording of Aaron Dilloway’s set in
Ithaca, NY on September 10th 2022. With only three days to plan, the
venue for the show was acquired, the bill was set, and the news was
spread. On the day of the event, 60+ attendees arrived from all corners
of upstate NY. The audience was primed and the tone was set by
performances from locals Flose, Magnetic Coroner and Jen Kutler. Then
performing in almost total darkness, Dilloway brought us through a
brooding field of paranoia rife with signature displays of raw
psychosis.
The timing of how quickly this event came together and drew a crowd
from a distance speaks to the power of Dilloway’s live performances and
their reputation : at all costs, this is not a set to be missed. An
example of that power is present in this recording, as it was a unique
audio/visual spectacle, where the room itself is played as much as the
tapes and mic’ed objects. Dizzying loops, nauseous breathing, and
staggered metal in stereo are all present. The tension builds with each
vignette, building a panoramic anxiety until finally it is released in a
storm of frenzied static. This privilege to witness that left an
audience changed is now available on cassette for all to hear. 28
minutes and 35 seconds of essential listening.
Recycled tapes, recycled tape cases, silk-screened/hand-stamped labels, and two color j-cards printed on recycled paper.
