Ashley V Bennett’s latest release as Human Guilt (formally Nadia) is a study in the cartography of the last year of her life. On “Coordinates”, we visit three places she does not want to return to, three memories that take up acres in her mind. Bennett has spent the last year “being alive in the middle of nowhere” a sound apparent in these tracks. Between distorted and delayed field recordings of freights moving and scream-sounding whispers; to ethereal synth processing with reverberated underpass overlays, “Coordinates” is an attempt to stick a pin into the nebulous, to chart the unknowable, to roll up a map and put it away.
