I recorded it in the dark. my neighbourhood is pretty low-income, and the police tend to focus on us because people don’t have easy access to the news in some cases, or people get fucked up and wander outside regardless of what the government says..
I’ll never forget that night. there were police trying to catch people in their driveways stepping outside for cigarettes, my whole room would light up from cops pointing their car’s lanterns in my driveway..
people have their views on how this pandemic was handled, but no matter where people stand politically and socially on the matter, I’ll never forget the insane police presence around my home in those nights..
I used field recordings from outside I’ve collected over time and played them into my rig those evenings and tried to work them into something
that album was the result. it’s probably the thing I’ve done I’m most proud of”
