Parasite Nurse’s follow up to 2023’s “Life Is Beautiful” with
“Lack” which as far as I’m concerned, it might be necessary to listen to
as a whole, all tracks in order and in its entirety. tl;dr Samantha’s
words about this release do a better job than anything I could write to
describe this intricate, piercing mesh of frequencies where substances
blur beyond recall.
” the result of a tumultuous year culminating in an almost tranquil
state. in stark contrast to its predecessors, this is not a record that
deals with mental instability, debilitating emotion or disappointment in
myself and those around me. i have experienced strong romantic and
sexual emotions since i was old enough to comprehend them. my life has
been filled with intense connection with the world around me whether
they were fleeting or prolonged. like most, i have loved, lost, yearned
and lusted. following two years of overwhelming feelings of love and
betrayal, overcoming an addiction to a medication recklessly prescribed
to me, an attempt on my own life, various flings and temporarily losing
myself entirely something clicked in my brain. the void in my life
previously filled with attempts at romance and sexual desire is no
longer present. i have come to cherish the deep and meaningful
connections i have with those that i love and care for far more than i
was previously capable of. this new phenomenon is entirely alien to me,
however. no longer desiring romantic and sexual fulfillment is not
something i have experienced in my time as an autonomous person. it has
brought my humanity as whole into question for me while simultaneously
affirming it. these pieces are a sonic representation of the result of
