Spontaneously born in a smoked out basement in the days following the first PURE HARSH NOISE WORSHIP Festival in Portland in 2012, PIECES is the live-to-tape collaboration between KAKERLAK, REDNECK and OSCILLATING INNARDS. I was lucky enough to be present for that first jaw-dropping session, and subsequently released the recording as a cassette on WCN – a tape that flew under the radar of many, but stands as one of the most intense releases on the label.
Nearly 8 years later, I am thrilled to finally be able to present the sequel to that first masterwork. The material on this record comes from a session recorded in 2014 and displays new levels in audial violence – from cooking, seething, jags accented with abnormal chirping and whistling feedback, to full-spectrum static rage characteristic of the artists’ solo works, executed in perfect disharmony with each other.
This is an incredibly potent harsh noise record that takes its time to build a tense and explosive narrative without wasting a second. Maximum suffocating sound pressure fills the air thanks to dynamic mastering by Viktor Ottosson and a loud and crispy cut from R.A.N.D. Muzik in Leipzig, Germany.
